It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Frank Coffey Sr. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Concordia Hospital. He is survived by Elsie, his beloved wife; his three children Frank Jr., Sharon (Ron Kolida), Lesa (Fred Bowley); his three grandchildren Shalagh, Aiden and Fergus. Frank was born in Dublin, Ireland and immigrated to Canada with his family, he was very proud of his Irish heritage. He practiced his trade as a plumber/pipefitter in Ireland and in Canada. Frank was a family man who loved his family with all his heart; he was a devoted husband to Elsie and wonderful, kind and loving father to his children. Frank was proud of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments. Frank was an active member of the Irish Association Manitoba and had many good times there sharing stories and songs of his homeland with friends, he instilled the love of Irish culture in his children. Frank was an avid sports fan, golfer and an Irish amateur boxing champion in his youth. Frank was much loved by all who knew him. His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Concordia Hospital for the outstanding care given to Frank, especially Dr. Strumpher and the nurses of ICU Bruce, Christian and Maureen. In keeping with Frank's wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue. Reception will follow at the Irish Association of Manitoba, 654 Erin Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Frank may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, CE501-840 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1.
