She was predeceased by her father Walter Gill, and brother Russell Gill. Darlene was born on September 10, 1957 in Winnipeg, MB and was raised in Transcona. Darlene met the love of her life Eugene while they worked together at Bonar Bemis. After a whirlwind romance they finally tied the knot on her birthday 31 years ago. Darlene was more than a wife; she was Eugene's soul mate. She stood by him through thick and thin. Darlene loved to garden, cook, and entertain. She always made sure there was an abundance of food and believed in the saying the more the merrier . She was famous for her dill pickles and always made sure that the McFarlane sisters and Dave Zinyk were well supplied. Darlene loved to shop for purses, shoes and jewelry always coming home to tell Eugene that it was a deal she just couldn't pass up! Darlene cherished her friends and family. She enjoyed many good times with her friends in the cul de sac, especially Madison and Chloe Cobb. Darlene was kind-hearted, generous, caring, and loving and she will be missed by all. To Eugene: Our deepest and most sincere condolences are with you at this most difficult time in your life. Joe and I are going to miss Darlene so much. What an awesome woman who will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, friendship, loving ways, her awesome food/cooking and you could never ask for a better hostess who always insisted you bring nothing with you but yourselves if she invited you to any event she or the two of you were hosting. We are so happy that our last get together was an evening the 4 of us had at Celebrations Dinner Theatre, but all past get-togethers are good memories; from birthday parties, to BBQ's and of course ice fishing. Darlene and I had two things in common - we both picked wonderful men as our husbands and we both had those colourful white, pink, purple and green Sorel boots :) Eugene, Joe and I are there for you any time of day or night for any reason our friend. To Mrs. Gill: A parent's worst nightmare is to outlive their child and you have had the unbearable situation of having gone through this twice. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this unimaginable sad time. To all of Darlene's extended family and friends: We will all remember this remarkable lady as she made an impact on all of our lives and most certainly made it impossible not to remember her with loving and fond memories. Rest In Peace Darlene! - Posted by: Debbie and Joe Schmidt (Friends) on: Jan 23, 2015

I extend my sincerest and heartfelt sympathies to Mrs. Gill and the rest of Darlene's family. Though it had been many years since Darlene and I saw each other or talked, she and her family were never far from my memory, with humourous stories of what we were up to as kids. More than once she got me in trouble with my parents but we had a blast, worth every moment. I am so saddened by yet another loss, Mrs. Gill. My condolences.
