NORRIS ALLAN THOMAS AITKEN (ALLAN) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norris Allan Thomas Aitken (Allan) on January 12, 2015 at his home in Winnipeg. Allan was born on June 24, 1956, in Dauphin to Beryl and Norris Aitken. Allen grew up with his six sisters, five of them older than he. As a youngster he enjoyed all outdoor activities, loved animals and took great satisfaction helping with farm chores and raising his 4-H calves, riding horses and sports like fishing, snowshoeing, badminton, hiking and camping. Allan graduated from the DRCSS and went on to the University of Manitoba where he received his teaching certificate. Allan always found studies came easy to him. Allan moved on to many different careers. Politics, business, economic development for First Nations, fundraising initiatives, community projects, Allan worked tirelessly to further the cause of First Nations, right up to the time of his death. Allan is survived by his children Matthew, William (Gwen), Daniel, Mirela (John), Kakeka, Thaegwan and Sakata, grandchildren Kadence, Delonna, Allan and Willow, sisters Mary Quick, Joan Nadolny (Barry), Beth Monson (Tom), Helen Ritzer (Ted) and Dawne Aitken (Rob),one aunt, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother George and his sister Norrie Ann. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Dauphin, Manitoba with Rev Paul Curtis officiating. Lay Reader was Frances Stewart. A eulogy was delivered by his son Matthew Aitken. Thank you to pallbearers Warren Quick, Ken Nadolny, Peter Nadolny, Jonathan Nadolny, Jeremy Monson, Michael Monson and Myles Monson. Donations in memory of Allan may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services were in care of the arrangements. 204-638-4110 www.sneathstrilchuk.com
