FREDERICK BRUCE WARNER
Date of Passing: Jan 07, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK BRUCE WARNER October 14, 1916 - January 7, 2015 Peacefully following a long life well lived. Survived by his son Bruce (Brenda) of Ottawa, and brother Bill of Edmonton. Predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy 'Dot', and sisters Vera and Eva of Regina. Dad was born in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan and raised on a farm on the prairies. He was an avid amateur athlete, and would likely have followed in his father John's footsteps as a farmer but for events a world away. Dad signed up for the Canadian Army following the outbreak of Second World War, but having completed basic training he was told to go home and await call-up. Not having that, Dad joined the RCAF in November 1941 and served with what became Squadron 437 until November, 1945 with tours in the U.K., France and Norway. Dad returned from Europe and, following a series of jobs, was hired by MacLeods. He started to work in commercial Real Estate, rising to head that division of MacLeods - Stedmans then Gamble - MacLeods. He retired in 1980. During the 1960s our family travelled often in North America with trips to the U.S. Southwest and California (Disneyland) in 1964, Expo '67 in Montreal, and New Orleans in 1969. Mom and Dad discovered Europe during the 1970s, and upon his retirement, they broadened their horizons to include more of Europe, Australia and the South Pacific. A long-time member of Regents Park United Church, Dad attended Meadowood United in his last years while residing at Dakota House. Dad had a good soul, and this was never more apparent than in the kind words I've received from many people in the past few days recounting how he touched their lives. Special thanks to his friends and the staff at Dakota House and, more recently Charleswood Care Home, especially Dr. Shing, Dina, Debbie, Mike, Ron and Shelley. To his special niece Kay (Roger) in Regina, many, many thanks. Cremation has occurred, and a memorial service and celebration of Dad's life will take place in Winnipeg in the late spring or early summer, details to follow. No Snow - No Tear

Moving to St. Vital, Winnipeg in the 1971 , the Warner family generously opened their hearts and home to our family. 1979, I remember fondly drinking tea and showing Mrs. Warner my fabulous photos on returning from my first Big European trip overseas. Bruce , where are you ... visit me in Singapore ! - Posted by: David Simpson (Family Friend) on: Feb 05, 2020
