I remember as a young girl taking a trip, with Uncle John Weremy, a trip to Nanaimo to visit Aunty Pearl and Uncle Ed. It was my first plane ride and my first time away from small town Libau. I was amazed..not only of the plane ride, or the mountains...but with Aunty Pearl....her home was so welcoming...so comforting...so cozy..I remember being in the guest room and sitting on a window seat reading a book and looking out the window at the golf course, thinking that these homes were only in the movies...Aunty Pearl was so kind, so easy to talk to, a great cook and making us feel so welcome...I just couldn't believe she was a relative ...and from Libau....she had such an elegance about her...to me she looked more a "movie star"....and she sustained that look for as long as I knew her.....no matter how many years went by, when she and Uncle Ed would come to visit I would think that she never seemed to age....she was truly beautiful, inside and out....she had certainly made an impression on me that lasted a life time...I am truly sorry that I never could make it back to BC to see her again...she will be truly missed...
