ELSIE FAITH DONOHOE (nee ANDERSON) January 30, 1918 January 15, 2015 Suddenly but peacefully in the early hours of January 15, 2015 just shy of her 97th birthday our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed in her sleep at the Betel Home in Selkirk. She will be forever missed by her children Tom (Margaret) Donohoe, Barrie (Carol) LaRose of Thunder Bay, ON, Isabelle (Bill) Owczar of Peterbourough, ON, Richard (Carol) LaRose of Edmonton, AB and daughter-in-law Betty LaRose of Winnipeg; numerous grand, great and great-great-grandchildren. Elsie was born in Winnipeg and lived there until she moved to the Petersfield area with her six children for employment. It was here she met the love of her life Jim Donohoe and in 1949 they were married, and together they had another son. Elsie and Jim farmed in the Petersfield area and once her children were grown she began working for K-Mart in Winnipeg where she worked until her retirement in 1983. At this time they began travelling annually to Texas and were fortunate to be able to make the trip for 18 years. Elsie was a kind, caring and loving person. She was never shy when it came to voicing her opinion and was very particular as to how things were done. Her family was everything to her and she did a great job of keeping everyone's families and names straight to the very end. She looked forward to all family visits, special occasions and Christmas' with the McBurney family, whom she became a big part of. In addition to the immediate family Elsie is survived by her sister-in-law Ellen Donohoe of Brandon, MB, numerous nephews , nieces and their families. Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Jim, her parents, her sons Jack, David and Raymond La Rose, her brother Jim Carter and three grandchildren. Elsie will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. We will cherish all the memories we have of her and she will be forever in our hearts. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Annes Roman Catholic Church, Petersfield, MB with Father Stan Gacek officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Boyd, Eric Wood, Darrell LaRose, Gary, Pat and Jeff Donohoe, The family would like to thank the very caring and compassionate staff of the Betel Home for their excellent care of Elsie in the past four years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Anne's Church Cemetery Fund, Box 123, Petersfield, MB, R0C 2L0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
