Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) HALFORD MARTIN March 12, 1916 - January 17, 2015 Bill passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 17, 2015 at the age of 98. The son of Ellen and Tony Martin, Bill's childhood was spent on Garfield Street, at a time when there were still horse drawn wagons delivering milk from the Crescent Creamery. He proudly served his country in the Second World War and was owner/operator of Veterans Driving School, teaching a generation of youngsters to drive. A longtime member of the Winnipeg Executive Association, he was honoured to be granted lifetime member status. Bill is survived by his wife Doreen, sons Guy (Laurie) and Bob (Patricia), sisters Edith and Margaret, and grandchildren Ryan, Kate and David. The family wish to thank Imre (Liz) Naphegyi for his kind and considerable efforts and the caregivers at Deer Lodge Hospital for their dedication and compassion. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded to bobbyjon29@gmail.com

Bill and my father used to go for dog walks in Wildwood Park. After my father passed Bill and I got to know each other really well. He was often seen by residents of the park passing out dog treats to any canine he saw. Bill was one of a kind. He would tell me stories about growing up in Winnipeg. During an outing he would point out buildings where manufacturing was done during the Second World War. Bill was a very generous soul who often would buy soups and canned goods to drop off at Siloam Mission or the Lighthouse Mission to help feed those less fortunate. Bill especially loved to sit out during a Summer day with a Rum and Coke and a cigar sampling my wife Liz's baking. We'll miss you around our house Bill. - Posted by: Imre Naphegyi (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2015

Debbie and I wish the Martin family all the best in these sad times. Mr. Martin worked with my uncle and father-in-law (Ted Longstaffe) in the dairy business. Mr. Martin instructed my wife in driving class, she didn't learn the speeding part. I enjoyed having lunch with Mr. Martin at the WEA Christmas party. I worked with Guy for many years and feel his sadness. Jack & Debbie Kuypers - Posted by: Jack and Debbie Kuypers (friend) on: Jan 22, 2015
