He is survived by his children Wilma (Joe) Staska, Tony (Andy) VandenAkker, Tini (Jack) Groenheide, Rita (Gary) Marlink, Joann (Paul) Heppner, Harry (Sharon) VandenBerg, Rick (Judy) VandenBerg, Marian (Reynold) Hildebrand, daughter-in-law Joyce VandenBerg, 34 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, niece Atie (Gerrit) Brakel, and family. He is also survived by two brothers and many nieces and nephews in Holland. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Willemina (2004), son Peter (1995), three great-grandchildren, Mylah, Samantha and Samuel, his sister-in-law Johanna Maarhuis (2009) and two brothers and two sisters in Holland. Dad was born in Holland and immigrated to Winnipeg with his wife and young family in 1953. After trying his hand at several different jobs, he was hired by Monarch Industries and worked for them until his retirement. In 1975 he was transferred to Winkler where he settled in the community and felt very much at home for the next 23 years. In his later years, Dad moved back to Winnipeg where he lived until his passing. Dad was a man of many talents and hobbies, singing in a male quartet, fishing, beekeeping, gardening, hobby farming and woodworking, to name a few. His Christian faith and family were very important to Dad which has left us with many fond memories of picnics, beach days, camping, family gatherings, etc. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Avenue.
