PETER WERSTUK 1926 - 2015 Peter Werstuk passed away peacefully on January 4, 2015 in Arcadia, California. He was born in Poplarfield, Manitoba, to Alexander and Anna Werstiuk, originally from Ukraine. Peter is survived by his daughters Michelle Chesley and Marjory Werstuk, grandson Russell Chesley Jr., son-in-law Russell Chesley, sister Elizabeth Vance, brother Walter Werstiuk, dear and close in-laws from the Noga family, and numerous nephews and nieces who adored their "Uncle Pete". Former Winnipeg residents, Peter and his late wife of 45 years, Madelene (Noga), made their home in San Marino, California where they raised their daughters. Peter was a member of many charitable organizations, including the Masons where he served as Master of the San Marino Masonic Lodge, as well as the Shriners and Elks. He valued his 34-year career with Southern California Edison. Above all else, Peter cherished his family, both near and far. He was truly an inspiration and will be lovingly remembered for his gregarious, heartwarming, supportive nature by his family and friends. Peter will be interred in a private service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, alongside his wife Madelene.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Peter was a really good guy. I admired him as a person, and for his marriage with Madeline. They were fun people to know. I am glad he let me hang around. They were some of the best years of my life. The last time I saw Peter, we were in different cars at a stoplight on Lake Street in Pasadena. He was rushing to pick up his grandson from school. It was a brief chat, but meant a lot to me, and I was so glad to have run into him. I tried to drop in on Peter a couple times in Arcadia but never made it past the Werstuk doormat. No one ever answered. He was always out and about. My heart was always with the Werstuk family, and I am sorry for their loss. - Posted by: John Keith IV (Kid from the neighborhood) on: Jan 21, 2016

  • Peter and Madeline were my US parents and truly loved them. I AM SO SORRY to just hear of his passing... I will truly miss him. My sincere condolences to his daughters, grandson and son-in-law, that he was so proud of. - Posted by: Joanne Tinsley (friend from Winnipeg) on: Mar 17, 2015

  • Peter was a long time member of United Singles Dance Club. When I was President he handled the initiation dinner for me and was always a constant supporting member. He shared the love of his family with us and was always a true gentleman. He will definitely be missed and was truly loved and admired by all our members. - Posted by: Betty Balog (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2015
