DALE KATHLEEN KLASSEN It is with extreme sorrow that we, the family, share the loss of Dale Kathleen Klassen (nee Gall). The strongest person we know and the best wife, mother, grandma, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, adventurer, friend and confidant that any of us could have hoped for. Dale is survived and lovingly remembered by her true love and husband of 45 years, William Klassen, her daughters Beth (son-in-law Greg and grandchildren Amelia, Elliot and Hattie) and Emily (son-in-law Xavi and grandchildren Noa and Jake), and her baby boy John (daughter-in-law Nicole). Also left to mourn her passing are her sister Laurel Harrison and a large circle of extended family and friends. Dale was predeceased by her eldest son Ian in 2008, her niece Katherine, her nephew David and her parents. We are comforted that she will now be with Ian. Dale was born on December 12, 1947 to William and Marjorie Gall. Dale's childhood was spent loving school life at SMA, enjoying time at Matlock in the summers and vacationing with her family. It is during these years that she developed a love for adventure and travel. A graduate of St. Mary's Academy (SMA 65) and Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing, Dale figured out early in life that her passion was taking care of others. She started her career at Health Sciences Centre in the neonatal intensive care unit helping babies who entered the world too soon and worked with W.R.H.A. for 20 years before retiring in 2011. Dale cared for others. She was an amazing nurse that made life brighter for each and every patient she cared for. She would have treated them with an unparalleled level of kindness and compassion. Dale met William in 1965 wearing a gorgeous pair of rubber boots and William won her heart with a signature move only shared with family. Together they created the best family. Dale loved life and patiently taught her family how to do the same. She embraced each moment and was always ready for adventure - theatre, new restaurants, dinner at 43 (everyone's favourite), sports with her boys, spa dates with her girls, and anything and everything that would make her family happy. Travel was her favourite activity and her favourite destination was Barcelona to see her daughter and family. (Schneckens!). Dale continued to care for others in retirement. She was the most amazing gamma / yaya and gave her five precious grandchildren the best start in life. She also made life brighter for people at CancerCare where she volunteered once a week. As was her way, each day of retirement was embraced and lived to the fullest. A celebration of Dale's life will be held at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue on Wednesday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Academy Foundation, St. Mary's Academy, 550 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3M 0B9 where a bursary in Dale's memory will be created. We will try to live life as you taught us mama. We are so proud to be your family. I love you sweetheart, you are beautiful. I've volunteered with Dale every wednesday at Cancer Care for years and I can say that every week I looked forward to coming in and enjoying our snack time chats in between running shifts. How lucky was I that my maiden name, Giesbrecht, followed Gall. As a result, Dale and I shared many clinical postings together. I always thought of her as one of our Class's "Wise Ones". A calm and joyful outward appearance, but always ready and willing to "get the job done". More recently, I ran into her on occasion while grocery shopping. I learned that she had learned some difficult lessons over the years, but was still the "Wise One" that I remembered. Still joyful, and absolutely still willing to care for others - especially her loved ones. She was an inspiration to me. I will carry her in my heart always. Dale was my dear friend throughout elementary school at St Mary's. We walked home from school together & on cold winter days Dale's Dad would drive us to SMA. Life was so carefree in our neighbourhood; riding our bikes, taking the bus downtown, overnights. Nothing but good memories Dale. Thanks for your friendship. - Posted by: Lisa Schlingerman (elementary school friend at St Mary's) on: Jan 26, 2015

Dale you were always so easy to talk to and listened so well. Supportive and witty, your smile and laughter shared during coffee breaks. We grew to know your family and your pride in all their accomplishments. Always so organized, thoughtful, enjoying your work as a nurse and those you cared for appreciating all you did for them. You will be missed my friend, you made a difference to so many. Peace be with you. To your family strength and support to you through friends and each other. There is a special angel now watching out for you all. Take care. Memories held in your heart will keep her spirit alive. - Posted by: Cori Yakiwchuk (Friend and collegue) on: Jan 25, 2015

Truly a wonderful lady as these words have expressed. Family has always been foremost in Dale's life and we are especially grateful that Dale welcomed and included our daughter Nicole as part of the family. We admired her strength and courage through this ordeal. Al recalls the wonderful Sunday dinners when he was treated so well and Mary Ann cherishes the time spent in Palm Springs lunching and especially recalls with fondness our theatre outing last summer. She was an inspiration to others and will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Al and Mary Ann Loewen (Family) on: Jan 24, 2015

The world has lost a beautiful ray of sunshine! The energy in any gathering always had a boost when Dale was there. We loved having her become a member of our "coffee group" and having Dale and Bill add laughter galore to our get togethers .... The last few years we have not seen Dale very often but she has remained in our hearts and generates a little smile whenever we think of her. I am sure heaven is a brighter more joyful place with her presence. My heartfelt sympathy to Bill and their wonderful children Beth, Emily and John and their families. Much love, Lee Robinson - Posted by: Lee Robinson (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2015
