JAMES SYDNEY FERGUSON, CD2 Peacefully, after a protracted illness, on January 21, 2015 our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather went on his last date with the love of his life. Dad was born August 10, 1925 in Edmonton. Raised on a farm in Millet, AB until the age of 16 years when he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He was sent to England for training before proceeding into combat in 1944. Towards the end of the war, he was captured and held as a POW in Germany until liberation April 16, 1945. After war, he attempted civilian life. He re-enlisted in 1947 completing many tours of duty until his retirement in 1972 as a MWO. From there he worked at CIBC until retirement at 64 years of age. During his time in Kingston in 1948 he met and married the love of his life, Beatrice Murphy after a whirlwind romance. Jim leaves behind six children, Terry (Ron), Peter (Donna), Gordon (Lily), Patricia (Gord), Timothy and Susan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. Jim was a lifetime member of ANAF Unit #303 Rockwood, member of KVA and the Charleswood Legion. A huge thank you to all the staff of Victoria General Hospital in both Emergency and 5 North. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at ANAF Rockwood, 341 Wilton Street. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in his name. • I was so sorry to read of your Dad's death. We worked together at CIBC for several years and we all knew him as "Fergie". In later years I often ran into him at Grant Park Mall and we reminisced over the "old bank days" and had a good laugh. I want to convey my sincere sympathy to all of the Ferguson family at this sad time. - Posted by: Marg Gillespie (Co-worker at CIBC) on: Jan 27, 2015

  • I'm sorry for your loss. Your father always made me smile with his quick wit. You always had to be on your toes when having a conversation with him. There was many a time where I had to do a double thought as to what he just said before I responded. He was a very sweet man and his presence at the Club will be missed. Sending prayers and thoughts to you at this sad time. - Posted by: Denise Taylor (Family friend) on: Jan 26, 2015
