ALICE ELIZABETH BROOKE (nee MENSFORTH) September 25, 1918 - January 17, 2015 Betty passed peacefully in her sleep at West Park Manor where she had been a resident since 2010. Betty was predeceased by her husband Bob, sisters Hilda Dawson and Lil Johnson, and brothers Alan, Alec, Alfred and Lorne. She is survived by her children, Warren (Doris), Ralph (Marilyn) and Glenda Dean; grandchildren Allison (Pat) Kennedy, Lindsay (Jon) Hammond, Melissa Dean, Tanis (Brendan) Thompson and Kimberly Dean (Justin Danielson), as well as her great-grandchildren Eli, Brooklyn, Rylan, Kyra and Lewis. Betty raised her family on Spruce Street in Winnipeg. She worked in Eaton's post office at Polo Park and was extensively involved with St. Patrick's Church and the Women's Auxiliary. Betty was an avid bowler, a staunch Blue Bomber fan, and enjoyed being involved with her nieces and nephews from the extended Mensforth Clan. In retirement Betty and Bob traveled extensively and developed friendships from around the world. In particular they enjoyed vacations in Arizona and cruises with lifelong friends Jean and Hugh Gunn and Jimmy and Isabel Edmonston. The family would like to sincerely thank the very caring staff at West Park Manor who kept Mom comfortable and with dignity until the end. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Thinking of you all and remembering meeting Betty--and Bob--when we flew out in a single engine Piper with our then 3 week old youngest son to visit Marilyn and Ralph in Winnipeg just after they were married in 1979 Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. - Posted by: Sandra Mullin (sister of Marilyn Brooke) on: Jan 29, 2015

  • I remember the many days spent at Betty and Bob's home on Spruce street while growing up. I have many fond memories and just the other day was talking about the dryer that was in their basement that sang "How dry I am" when the laundry was done as well as the automatic coal hopper that put coal into the furnace. As they were the first family to have TV we sat and watched shows after school and on weekends for hours on end. Betty and Bob were a fantastic couple who raised wonderful kids who I grew up with. Thanks for all the memories Betty and our condolences to the entire family. I know that she will be sorely missed by all. Love Dan and Phyllis Black - Posted by: Dan Black (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2015
