DIANE HELENE SAFINUK (nee LEMOINE) On January 21 the world lost an incredible woman, but gained a beautiful angel. After three long years of battling ovarian cancer, her fight was over and she can now finally be at peace. Diane was an extremely artistic person; she painted, grew beautiful gardens and decorated amazing cakes. She loved to travel, with family or just with the girls. Before retiring two years ago, Diane worked for 37 years at OAS where she formed many lasting friendships. Diane was a friend to all she met, never hesitating to give a helping hand, to listen and understand. Enjoyed being part of organizing family gatherings and family always came first. Diane will be greatly missed by her husband Kirby and sons Grant and Shaun. Also left to mourn are her mother Marguerite, family Rita, Suzanne (Vern), Lorraine, Collette, Robert, Rose. Her mother and father-in-law Gerry and Stan. Sisters-in-law Sharon (Norm), Gail (Mitch) and Laura (Jerry). Her nieces and nephews; Christiane (Matt), Derek, Eric, Christine (Serge), Ashley (Jay), Adam, Holli, Samantha (Barny), Paula, Justin(Ashley) and Braden. And her great-niece and nephews; Denise, Leo, Elijah and Zebediah. Also missing her are many relatives and friends. Family meant the world to Diane. She was Kirby's rock and her sons were her everything, she took pride in all their accomplishments. Our Family Chain We little knew that morning That God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly; In death we will do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, You are always by our side. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. As per Diane's wishes, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Team Dragonfly, Diane's team that will continue to walk in her memory in the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope or the charity of your choice. 'Till we meet again

Condolences & Memories (26 entries)

  • I am in utter shock to read of Diane's passing. Although I hadn't seen Diane in many many years, our friendship that we had in our young years always brings back very enjoyable memories for me. When the Lemoines lived near the corner of Betournay & Speers Rd., Diane was then best friends with Lucille Gerrard, but Diane had a warm and inviting personality opened her heart to new friends (including me). While Diane was quiet and kind, she also had a tough and strong side to her personality; not like a bully exuding fear, but rather demonstrating a fearlessness that conjured a kind of a comfort somehow. That cute little house with that large family always seemed happy and after the family moved further down Speers Rd, Diane & I and others spent many hours playing tether ball in the Howden School yard, and were so happy when the Lemoines got their very own tether ball set up in their back yard! My deepest condolences to the Lemoine and Safinuk families for your terrible loss, and also of your most recent loss of Mrs Lemoine. My deepest sympathies to all, Sincerely Sandy (Chale) Fodchuk - Posted by: Sandy Fodchuk (nee Chale) (Childhood Friend) on: Mar 14, 2015

  • Dear Kirby, Grant and Shaun, Dianne, your Mother was a truly wonderful soul that cared for all, treated everyone like family and I loved that her sons' friends were her sons and daughters. You are so blessed to have had her as such a big part of your life and to have so much of her in you, making each of you a better person for that. That she was called away so early seems unbearable, but I know she will continue to be with the three of you every moment in all you do and are. We love you and our hearts are with you. Diane was the most generous, loving, courageous, and kind hearted person and that I was able to call her a cherished friend, well how lucky am I!I know there are many especially at work who were touched by the spirit of Diane, and loved to see her wonderful smile, I think I can speak for those as well and say how lucky were we!!
