Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEUGENE (SONNY) WALTER EVANUIK It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dad, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend Sonny Evanuik on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the age of 71 years. Sonny is survived by his children Sandra (Paul), Brad, Kelly; grandchildren Shaylene, Sarah and Keila; mother Molly; brothers John (Colleen), William (Darlene) and Ryan (Barb); nephews and nieces Jonathon, Sherry and Jack; aunts; uncle; cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife and the love of his life Linda; father Walter; sister Georgina; brother Tony; niece Melanie and nephew Walter. On December 28, 1943, Sonny was born at the St. Boniface Hospital and was the oldest child of Molly and Walter Evanuik. He was raised and grew up in Transcona and spent most of his years living in Winnipeg. Dad lived a simple life. Tried his best and did the most with what he had. He was extremely passionate and faithfully loyal to his religious beliefs. Dad loved all sports, watching his favourite teams, and encouraging us to be active in sports all thru our lives. This always brought him great pride. Dad grew up on early rock n' roll and listening to his favourite music always remained one of his joys. In his later years Dad received his greatest happiness from the love of his grandchildren. A private family graveside service will take place in Transcona Cemetery. Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada 204.897.4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com "Dad will always be loved, sadly missed and in our hearts forever. Say Hi to Mom for us, the two of you will finally be together eternally."

Sorry to hear of his passing. I was trying to find Brad. I had not talked to him in a long time and I came across this and it saddens me hear this. - Posted by: Michelle Boucher (Friend of Brad) on: Mar 01, 2017

My condolences in the loss of your Dad. We were old neighbours on Pacific Ave. Many years have passed since I saw you kids, remember Shannon And Kerry. I met your Dad one time when he was reading gas meters, when we first moved to Assinaboia in 1970. Al, my husband passed away on August 25, 2014. Sincere Sympathy, Shirley Weiss - Posted by: Shirley Weiss (ex-neighbour) on: Jan 26, 2015

My wife, Maureen, and I offer our condolences. I knew Sonny as a youth when he was growing up on Victoria St in Transcona. His sister, Georgina, and my sister, Alice, were very close childhood friends. We learned of Georgina's passing many years ago. We are heartened to learn that Sonny embraced his faith as strongly as he did. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Ron Wallace (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2015
