DOREEN (DONIE) VINETTE (nee LIGGINS) February 2, 1932 - January 23, 2015 Suddenly but peacefully with her family by her side on January 23, 2015 just shy of her 83rd birthday our Mother, Grandmother (Donie) and Great-Grandmother passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. She is now in heaven to join her loving husband George of 38 years, her parents and brothers Lawrence, Gordon and Billy. She will be forever missed by her two sons Jordon (Tannis) and Darren (Belinda), her grandchildren Bobby, Danny, Calvin, Valerie (Rob Holland), Adam (Meghan) her great grandchildren Storm, Kate, Jake, Kyle, Kevin, Hayden and her brother Allan (Aletha) Liggins, of BC nephews and nieces Geoffrey (Catherine), Richard (Cheryl), Lavona and Sandra. She was born in Mazenod, Saskatchewan and lived there until she moved to Winnipeg in 1950 to take her business schooling. She had a few jobs including Federated Co-op until she landing her final job as Office Manager for the Winnipeg Branch at PPG Canada in 1973. She had many achievements in her job but her major one was in 1976 when she wrote a classification of accounts for coding local sales which was used by PPG Canada nationwide in their sales and tax guide. She enjoyed working with all her colleagues both in Winnipeg and across Canada until her retirement at PPG Canada. She was very much involved in Cubs and Boy Scouts with Jordon and Darren. She loved any gathering she could attend just to sit and talk to family, old friends or new friends she met along the way. If you ever wanted to remember a date of when something happened you would just have to go ask Doreen, she had a memory like no other. She enjoyed her time at the cottage in Nutimik with family and friends. You could either find her playing crib, playing skipbo, doing a puzzle or just sitting on the deck watching the butterflies. Her favorite time of year at the cottage was Thanksgiving when she would pack up the frozen turkey and all the fixings and haul it out to the lake and cook up a big feast. In the past few years she moved to Dugald, where she enjoyed her weekly bingo, outings and her favorite, the trips to Selkirk with Diane and the ladies. Doreen was a kind, caring, loving lady that always thought of others before herself. If you are family, an old or new friend you know that she touched you in a very special way. She spent precious moments with her grandkids and great-grandkids and each of them have their own special memories of her. We all will cherish the memories we have of her and she will forever be in our hearts. Honourary pallbearers Dan Vinette, Doug Tesluk, Dan Krasonwski, Glen Ominski, Don Zulyniak, Doug Maughan. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and a very special thanks to Diane and John Holland for all their help. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave Winnipeg, MB. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
