MRS. PATHINY NAVARATNAM Mrs. Pathiny Navaratnam passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on February 2, 2015 at the age of 94. She was born in Jaffna and worked as a Tamil teacher for 35 years. In 1985 she migrated to Canada and embraced the multicultural mosaic in Winnipeg through her many friendships. She continued as volunteer Tamil teacher to the next generations of Tamil Canadians until 2013. She is predeceased by her husband Mr. Velupillai Navaratnam and daughter Kosala (Sivananthan), survived by her son Srinarayanathas (Kala), and daughters Vathsala (Shanthan Ratna), Dr. Sri Navaratnam (Dr. Sri Ranjan), and grandchildren Dr. Shobana (Sanjeevan), Dr. Gokulan (Dr. Ishani), Muraly, Dr. Lavan, Kalpana, Dr. Namanan, Sarangan, Sayoan, Neelan, Vaelan, and great-grand-children Vidhya and Varoun. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ken van Ameyde and other medical professionals for their excellent care which kept her out of the hospitals all her life.
