Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNADINE ALISON EYJOLFSON It is with great sadness that we must tell you of the sudden loss of our beloved Nadine. Nadine Alison was born October 9, 1952 in Winnipeg, to parents Victor and Alice McNabb. The family moved to Berens River in 1952, Bissett in 1961 and then to Riverton in December of 1966. Riverton was where Nadine met and married Glenn Eyjolfson on September 12, 1971. It is here they began their family, raising their two sons Micheal and Brendan. Nadine helped to establish G. Eyjolfson Transport, running the family business alongside Glenn, serving the community and beyond since 1972. Nadine's life was full of accomplishment. A strong, independent woman, her guidance was an inspiration to many. Her intelligence and straightforward fair manner were respected by all. She started her working career at the Riverton Co-op, moving to the Riverton Credit Union for the next 17 years. In this time she served on many committees as well as one term on the Riverton Council. Her final job posting was Administrator for the Village of Riverton. She worked tirelessly for her community, going that extra mile, sharing her knowledge and expertise guiding Council, her pride evident when she spoke about "her town". After more than 18 years of dedication she retired in 2012. We McNabb sisters have shared a special bond all of our lives including a love of gardening, antiques, reading, and music, we are devastated by our unexpected loss. Nadine was a passionate gardener and particularly loved her lilies and daylilies. We eagerly anticipated the coming of spring and spent many happy hours scouring every garden centre in search of treasures. Nadine also appreciated the history in old things and seldom missed an antique show, travelling as far as Alberta and Minneapolis to find something unique. Anyone who knew Nadine, knew of her love of Coca-Cola. Over the years she collected Coca-Cola memorabilia which is nicely displayed in her home on Hecla Island. Nadine loved to watch curling and many an email discussing strategy and teams went back and forth with Linda during the course of a game. She looked forward to the upcoming Scotties this week. A wonderful cook and baker, her apple pie was enjoyed by many and was a staple at our family gatherings. A compassionate soul, when Cam was hurt, she travelled to Alberta to help him, something he will never forget. We cannot express how we will miss our Nadine in the interaction of our everyday lives. Left to cherish her memory are husband Glenn; sons Micheal (Carly) and Caitlyn; Brendan (Kristina), granddaughter Hayley Kay and her mother Chantal Chudd; sisters Linda Wotton; Sandra Eyolfson (Steven) - Damon Bostrom (Tasha), Daniel and Josh; Michelle Bostrom (Marc Leveque), Tristan and Maya; Brady Eyolfson (Hayley), Kashton; Quinn Eyolfson (Amber), Caelyn, Layne and Colton; Jody Trippier (Trevor), Zachary and Kenzie; Vickie Johnson (Raymond) - Jordan; Jade Anne Di Nicola (Ross), Sofia and Lucas; Lacey Jaye Johnson (Leigh), Danyx and Kaz; Jasmyn Johnson (Paul) and Jessa Laine Johnson (Lyndon); brother Cameron McNabb - Cody (Katie), Chase, Kelsey, Riley and daughter Morgan; brother-in-law Lyle Eyjolfson (Ann) - Courtney, Leslie and families; Kenny Eyjolfson (Pauline) and family; sister-in-law Gloria Eyjolfson and family; aunt Francoise Poulin from Quebec. Special in Nadine's life were friends Shirley Eyolfson (our honorary sister), Bev Spring, cousin Arlene Haynen, and long-time friends Debbie Brodsky and Vicky Jones. Nadine was predeceased by her parents Victor and Alice McNabb, parents-in-law Herb and Kay Eyjolfson, and sister-in-law Patsy Blackburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Johnson, Steven Eyolfson, Lyle Eyjolfson, Ronnie Lea, Daryl Calder, Lorne Bernardin and all of her nephews. Funeral service will be held at the Riverton Hall on Wednesday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. with lunch immediately following. Private burial to be held immediately following the service. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, food and baking received during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Nadine was the "glue" and backbone in the family. To her granddaughters Hayley Kay and Caitie, she was their "Gammy" and she was the best. They were the light of her life, making her laugh, filling her with pride and she loved them with all of her heart. They liked nothing more than to visit, play store, games and entertain her on a daily basis. To her extended family she was "Auntie". She loved everyone dearly and they loved her. She appreciated the help nephew and godson Jordan gave her when she needed it. A precious link of our large extended family is gone from us and we will all miss her deeply. Nadine, you were the love of my life, to our Mom, you were our guiding light, our mentor, our rock, Gammy, we will miss you so much! We know you will be shining down upon us. Love you always, and forever. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

I am in still in disbelief that my dear, dear friend has passed on. I remember the first day when we met in grade ten. Our friendship carried on from then. Our first apartment, our trip to BC. I stayed and she came back but our friendship was always there . So many good times, laughs and stories and when we didn't see each other for awhile it was like you had just talked the day before. My heart goes out to Glenn, Michael, Brendan and all the family. Well kiddo, I won't say goodbye but I will say, "See you later". Miss you already!!! - Posted by: Vicky Kennedy (Jones) (Friend for almost fifty years) on: Feb 18, 2015

So sorry to hear of Nadine's sudden passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. Nadine was a great hostess and very proud of her antique collections. This was very obvious when Ann and I dropped in for a visit to her Hecla cottage one summer evening. Cherish the memories. - Posted by: Jim & Gloria Yaremkiewich (Friend ) on: Feb 10, 2015

Growing up with Brendan and Mike, and spending tons of time over at the house, I called you mom too, will never forget how you were stern with us, and that look we would get if we did wrong, I was more afraid of getting in trouble with you than my own mom, but loved you for that. You will forever be missed. - Posted by: Mitch Johnson () on: Feb 09, 2015

It was with great sadness that I learned of Nadine's sudden passing. We were friends and high school classmates in Riverton. The world has lost someone "very special". My thoughts and prayers are with all of Nadine's family in this time of sorrow. In the days ahead, may you find some small comfort in your "many happy memories". - Posted by: Sharon Hiebert (Whiteway) (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2015

It was my absolute privilege to have known Nadine for 15 years. We met often over the years to discuss business solutions, but our business discussions inevitably always turned to personal chats sharing our many stories of our trips to Puerto Vallarta. I always looked forward to the drive up to Riverton to meet with Nadine. My deepest condolences to her husband and family for their very sad loss. The world has lost a most wonderful lady. A bright new star shines in the night sky. - Posted by: Derrick Cardinal (Business acquaintance/friend ) on: Feb 09, 2015

I had the pleasure of working in Nadine's office with her for a few years. I have nothing but fond and wonderful memories of her. I have always had a great deal of admiration for her and all her wisdom and intelligence. EVERYTHING she always said made soooooo much sense and was very straight and to the point, whether you wanted to hear it or not! We had many great chats about life in general, she taught me a lot in those few years. My heart aches for her and all her family and friends ... - Posted by: Janice Podaima (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2015

I have so many 'life stories' that I could share. The first thing I remember about her was her long beautiful hair and her amazing beaded mukluks. The last thing I remember was her still teaching me how to back up out of her long Hecla Island drive way, shaking her head but with a big smile on her face. Between the two I remember love. - Posted by: Debbie Brodsky () on: Feb 09, 2015

Memories of our childhood summers together are warm and treasured and almost legendary! Fun, mischief with inventiveness combined. Then she grew into a thoughtful, caring mover and shaker, a leader with a steady focus on the welfare of her family and of her community. Always passionate about life and living, it is difficult to imagine this world without her. She claimed a significant chunk of our hearts and our respect and inspiration. She was truly one-of-a-kind and has left a huge gap in her wake. RIP (or Not!) Nadine knows exactly what I mean. Wherever and whatever - there will be flowers - we will breathe your name with love. - Posted by: Laura Tutlies (Cousin & Friend) on: Feb 09, 2015

Carly would always tell me what a wonderful mother-in-law Nadine was. I know she was a true inspiration and friend to Carly as well as a wonderful loving gammy to Cati. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. Rest in peace Nadine, you will be missed. - Posted by: Renee Beaucage (Family friend ) on: Feb 09, 2015

I worked with Nadine at the credit union and enjoyed her candor and abilities. She was easy to like. On my first day at work, I held a staff meeting and announced that I believed in having an open door policy with the staff. Unfortunately Nadine took advantage of this comment and immediately after the meeting, came in to my office to announce she was resigning. It was a loss to the credit union but the community benefited when she became the administrator for the village office and the residents were well served. I will always think fondly of Nadine. Sorry to hear of the passing of a long time friend involved in our municipal community. I had the opportunity to work with Nadine when she first started as the Municipal Administrator of the Village of Riverton. Her dedication to her community was apparent even in the early stages of her employment with the Village. My condolences to her family. I feel privileged to say that I was one of Nadine's very first friends in Riverton, when she first brought her wide smile and positive attitude to our neighbourhood...and ultimately the community...for so many years. She will be so greatly missed by so many and my heart goes out to Glenn and family. Too sad for anymore words. - Posted by: Rod Palson (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2015
