ZVONKA ANTONIA AMBROZIC
Date of Passing: Jan 23, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryZVONKA ANTONIA (TONY) AMBROZIC (nee ZORKO) It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Zvonka Ambrozic, on January 23, 2015, at St. Boniface Hospital, with her family by her side. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Diane and son, Robert. Mom will also be missed by our loving pet Angelina Jollie, whose loving companionship brought mom great comfort and joy. Mom was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia and immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. In the early 1960s she was employed by Furby Motors as an accounts receivable/payable, payroll clerk. In 1978, she was employed with the River East School Division, Board Office as an accounts receivable/payable, payroll clerk. Mom loved all aspects of her job, but due to declining health left the position in 1991. Mom truly enjoyed socializing with her extended family and close friends. She especially enjoyed her weekly breakfast outings with her dear friend and neighbour Wilma. Mom also had a passion for the arts. She enjoyed attending performances by the WSO and the RWB. Mom also looked forward to attending Breanna and Sarah's annual dance performances. She even enjoyed a hockey game or two because one of the star players was Drew. Mom demonstrated tremendous strength and resiliency throughout the years. With some assistance from family and friends mom was fortunate enough to remain in the home that she loved until her passing. Although mom is no longer with us, she will remain in our hearts forever. A heartfelt thank you to Fran Mulhall and family for all the love and unwavering support throughout the years. The family would like to thank the first responders, Dr. Allan Schaeffer, emergency and ICU staff, at the St. Boniface Hospital. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 or to a charity of your choice. Hello to Diane and Robert. I used to go to St Mary's with you as did my brother, Fred. Funny, we used to go by our Anglicized names before, Donna and Frank Bernjak. I just came across a lovely picture of my mother with your mother and Diane and me fishing many years ago. You may contact me if would like me to send you a copy. We were so young, strong and all so good-looking (if I may say so myself). I have such nice memories of my elementary school years and visiting with your family. I lost my mother from cancer in 2016 and looking at old photos I realize that I thought we would all live forever. Times have changed, but I'm so happy to have such wonderful memories with such great people. All the best from Daniela Barnes (nee Donna Bernjak). - Posted by: Daniela Barnes (Old friend ) on: Jul 06, 2024

Diane, Many years ago, when at your house on Young St., your mother was always friendly and kind, to have a few words of conversation and a smile for me. Ellen Jenkinson-(nee-Brodowski) - Posted by: Ellen Jenkinson(nee Brodowski) (school friend of Diane's) on: Feb 14, 2015

I first met Zvonka when she was working at the Board office and I was elected to the River East Board of Trustees in 1980. Through the years, our paths crossed often and when we would meet she was always such a gracious lady with a ready smile and a kind word. My condolences to her family. Just to have known Zvonka I am certain that family members will have many fond memories to sustain them during these darkest hours. - Posted by: Vicki Lazaruk (River East School DIvision connection) on: Feb 08, 2015

I am so sorry to hear of Zvonka's passing. We both started working for River East School Division at the same time (1978) she was at the Board Office and I at River East Collegiate. I got to know Zvonka in the early 80's when I transferred to the Board Office. I have fond memories of working with her. Rest in Peace Zvonka. - Posted by: Janice Wilkes Baldwin ( former co-worker) on: Feb 07, 2015
