MARJORIE EILEEN SAWA With heavy hearts, the family of Eileen Sawa (Kabaluk) announces her passing on February 17, 2015 following an eighteen month struggle with cancer, at the age of 78. Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Anna Kabaluk and her brother in law Ken Micklash. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her husband and soul mate of forty-five years, Jim; brother Jim (Anne) Kabaluk; sister in law Gladys Micklash and brother in law Larry (Wanda) Sawa. Also left to cherish her memory are nieces Donna (Kevin, Nicholas, and Madeleine) and Katie (Moris); nephews Todd, Marty (Liette, Adrienne), Kevin (Gail) and Scott whom she loved dearly and was so very proud of, and many extended family relatives and friends. Eileen was born on the family homestead in Lac du Bonnet on March 7, 1936 where she spent her early years before moving to Winnipeg at age 19. She was no stranger to hard work and excelled at her career as an administrative assistant. Eileen was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend. She had a very strong faith and was always very thankful and blessed by all that her life had to offer. She never missed anyone's birthday or special day and was very generous to many different charities over the years. Eileen loved time spent at the family cottage at Lee River near Lac du Bonnet, taking rides in the country, gardening, doing crosswords, the "Y and R" television series and just performing her day to day activities. We will miss her gentleness, kindness, wisdom, laughter and her amazing memory. Eileen had a deep love of animals including the family pets and the wildlife that graced her yard including the rabbits and chipmunks. She supplied them with year round treats including carrots and peanuts they too will miss her kind spirit. The family would like to thank Jane B. from the Palliative Home Care program, Dr. Quy Doan, family physician and assistant Germaine, and Dr. Sharma and the health care team at CancerCare Manitoba for their kindness and care over the years and during Eileen's illness. Special thanks to Dr. Ted St. Godard, nurse Arlene, student nurse Lyle and the amazing team on 3 East at Riverview Health Centre where Eileen spent her final days. You are all very gifted and we so appreciate all the loving care in helping Eileen and our family through a difficult time. Thank you as well to family and friends and especially Art and Sally Van Steelant for your visits, support and prayers. At Eileen's request, no service will be held. A private family interment will occur at a later date. Should friends desire, donations may be made in Eileen's memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society, CancerCare Manitoba or the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Unit. We never lose the ones we love Even though they're gone For within the hearts of those who care Their memory linger on Unknown Rest in peace Eileen until we meet again. I worked with Eileen many years ago at CLWR and respected her knowledge and work ethic. But more than that she had a kind heart and was devoted and committed to her beliefs. Condolences to you, Jim. - Posted by: Linda () on: Feb 25, 2015

Auntie Eileen never feigned her feelings or pretended to be someone she wasn't, and I always respected this about her. She was a great conversationist and I loved conversing with her about all the things in life. She had great physical energy, and a strong character. She had a detailed knowledge of our family's history, and spent a great deal of time conveying that to meā¦even writing it all down on paper. She was more a friend to me than an 'aunt' and while I miss her, I feel glad that she was part of my life. - Posted by: Todd (Nephew) on: Feb 24, 2015

Eileen indeed had a generous heart. When I was a student living in Winnipeg (many years ago) Eileen and Jim often opened their home to me. I will long remember Eileen's kindness. I was grateful that Donna shared her family with me. Rest in peace Eileen. xo - Posted by: Pam Klein (Friend) on: Feb 23, 2015
