RYAN ROGER PECK
Date of Passing: Feb 25, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRYAN ROGER PECK It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Ryan Roger Peck on February 25, 2015. Ryan passed surrounded in love by family and friends. Ryan was born December 30, 1975 in Winnipeg to his parents Linda and Brian Peck and his big brother David. After his father's passing at an early age, Josef Jarigen became Ryan's loving father. During Ryan's pre-school years his enthusiasm for life was evident as he enjoyed many family activities, from riding the train to the family camp at Ottermere, Ontario, boating to playing on the beach. After graduating from Grant Park High School in 1997, Ryan moved from his family home to a community residential home run by St. Amant. He lived very happily there with housemates Chris and Shawn for 18 years until his passing. During those years, Ryan remained included and involved in all family activates. He loved spending every second weekend with his parents and participating in any family event or otherwise that was happening. He was always out in the community on all kinds of outings to parks, festivals, baseball games, dances and restaurants. Ryan was delighted with new experiences and adapted beautifully to new adventures whether it was traveling to British Columbia by train with his mom and big brother David or Toronto by airplane. Ryan spent many happy holidays at Albert Beach with staff and housemates and also at Riding Mountain National Park with his Mom and Dad. Com-span and DASCH agencies enabled Ryan to blossom in community-based volunteer positions and day programs where he loved to meet people and develop relationships. With his quiet and calm nature Ryan faced challenges throughout his life beyond what is fair but with his deep strength and steadfast perseverance he rose above them each time and taught all of us who knew Ryan what those qualities truly mean. Words cannot convey our deepest gratitude to Ryan's caregivers, in particular Shaun, Qing and Kevin. In addition, we would like to acknowledge and thank the medical staff in the MICU at Health Sciences Centre as well as the doctors and nurses in the Neurology Department. Ryan will be lovingly remembered by his parents Linda and Josef; siblings Kim (Gary), Karen, Cindy (Ron), Jayson (Denise); brother-in-law Pete; uncles and aunts, Mel and Sheila, Bob, Barb, Frank and Regina; cousins Angel (Gunther), Peter (Florence), Stephen (Holly), Ashley, Matthew (Marly), Chris, James, Britney and Melissa. Also left to cherish his memory, honorary Uncle and Aunt, Robert and Toni and their daughters Andrea and Kaitlin. Besides his paternal and maternal grandparents, Ryan was predeceased by his father Brian, siblings David and Lisa, Uncle Tom and Auntie Sue. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu for flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Amant, 440 River Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 3Z9. I was shocked to find out about Ryan's passing earlier today. I would like to extend my condolences to Linda & Josef at this time. Ryan has been fortunate to have such loving & supportive parents and my thoughts and prayers are with them. I would also extend condolences to Ryan's roommates Chris & Shawn, the residential support staff, day program support staff, & the St. Amant family. I had the pleasure of supporting Ryan. I was fortunate to have shared many wonderful experiences & adventures with him and his roommates. His smile, laugh, & happy personality have been forever sketched into my mind. Anyone who has supported Ryan or been in his presence knows he would bring the best out in those around him. His gentle soul will forever be a part of us. All those who are mourning at this time, please know there are people who share in your grief and thoughts & prayers are with you.
