Condolences & Memories (19 entries)

  • I met "Mr. Vann" several years ago, in the setting of declining and challenging health issues. Despite everything, he was always quick to smile and thank and joke and give the impression that "you need to keep moving on, one step at a time". As the years went on, he would come by for the occasional visit, he was always the same - there to smile and joke and hug and "hey, just keep plugging away". I was so sorry to hear of his passing and offer to you Lynda and family my sincere condolences. He was quite a character and I feel richer for having known him.... - Posted by: Delaine James (Nurse) on: Mar 07, 2015

  • I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Over the years of knowing him he has always been such a support for all those who shared his medical situation and a dear friend to all. It was truly an honour to know him, my most sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all. He has touched many people by his kind words and support. - Posted by: SUZANNE CAMPBELL (friend / RN) on: Mar 02, 2015

  • I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Bob's passing. My heartfelt condolences to Lynda, Trevor and the grandchildren. There was never a more doting uncle. I have far too many memories to list. One of my faves however was when we lived on Elgin Ave and he was working for Old Dutch. He would drop by every once in a while and "drop" off a huge box of chips for us. I loved that he made us laugh when we shouldn't. You will be missed. I love you. - Posted by: Donnalynn (Vann) Fairweather (niece) on: Mar 01, 2015

  • Lynda, family and Wally.....Sincere condolences.....I remember when we were teenagers, Bob and I playing "line" ball in the hockey rink at Weston CC....we spent many hours trying to hone our baseball skills....it had been many years since we had seen each other, we finally had a really nice visit a few years ago at the Legion after the Weston Boyz golf tourney....our visit brought back many happy and fun time memories.... - Posted by: Jim Chester ("old" friend ) on: Mar 01, 2015

  • Dear Linda and Trevor... We are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing, and that we cannot be with you to celebrate all the joys of Bob's life. Whenever we were with you and Bob, playing ball for the Mooners, working different events with Kin, enjoying the beer garden at Morse Place, or tubing down the Apple River, it was always a good time. He'll be missed, but somewhere in heaven a slow pitch team has a new pitcher... Love, Sandy and Bob - Posted by: Sandy and Bob Davidson (Friends) on: Mar 01, 2015

  • Our sincerest condolences to you Linda, Trevor, Don, Marleen and families. I met Bob at Isbister school in grade 5 when he moved from Bethany. I had just moved a couple of weeks earlier from Arden. We became fast friends and grew up together playing football, baseball, hockey at St. Paul's school, board games and going to Knights of Knox on Wednesday evenings. Bob was always true to his friends and treated everyone with respect and kindness. He was never afraid to speak his mind and did so with conviction. I wish we had spent more time together these past years my friend. Rest easy. Ron and Cathy Stanners - Posted by: Ron Stanners (friend) on: Mar 01, 2015

  • Very Sorry for your loss. I met Bob at Vince Leah little league baseball around 1957-60 at Sargent Park. My only connection was thru baseball but for whatever reason our paths would regularly cross over the last 50 years. You can evaluate the quality of an individual by his Attitude and love that he has to give and Bob had them both. He always had a wonderful smile and a kind word whenever we would meet. Rest in Peace - Posted by: Ronald Pucci (Old Friend) on: Mar 01, 2015

  • Sorry Lynda and family for your loss. Our prayers are with all of you. - Posted by: Henry (Hank) and Anne Horner (Friends) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Lynda, Trevor and family so sorry to get this news. When we were new in town in 1977, Bob was the only fellow kinsmen who knew where Clanwilliam was, next town to Bethany. We shared so many good times and his strengh, service and loyalty will always be remembered, plus the twinkle in his eye. RIP - Posted by: Laurence Bertram (Friend-Kinsmen) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Uncle Bobby, my heart grew heavier this week to know that I won't be seeing you anymore. You had so much faith in me and my dreams even when I doubted myself. I one day hoped to show you that you weren't just wasting faith. Thanks for being my Sports highlight man to catch me up for a whole year I may have missed and just enjoy a good Blue Jays or Jets Game at family gatherings. Paradise called and I'll miss you dearly. Until we meet again, I'll love and miss you every day. - Posted by: Allyson ("Uncle Bobby") on: Feb 28, 2015

  • We all have so many memories and they are all of Uncle Bob's laugh and how he made all of us laugh with him. One of my favorite memories is when he put Hi-karate aftershave on Danny when he was about 5 on the way home he was misbehaving and when mom tried to reprimand him he said "watch it Uncle Bob told me my hi karate would make me strong and he had showed him how to do karate chops." How could you be mad. May memories of his laughter carry you forward. - Posted by: Jacquie(Vann)Ainslie (niece) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Linda, We just have to remember he is in a good place with the best company ever. "Grampy" You always had a smile on your face. We were blessed to have you in our lives and you will be missed so much. Ian will miss having his football talks with you :( and every time I clean that kitchen table I will smile and hear you say "You missed a spot". You will be forever in out hearts and we will take care of that amazing wife of yours. XOXOXOOXOXOX - Posted by: Cindy Hickey () on: Feb 28, 2015
