EDWARD KAMER Peacefully, on Friday, February 27, 2015, with his daughters by his side, Ed passed away at the age of 77 years. He is predeceased by his wife Janet, their infant son Edward and his second wife Illa; parents Joe and Frieda; brother Joe and sister Margaret. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Candace (Brian) and Leah (Colin); grandchildren Sarah, William, Daniel, Adam and Samuel; stepchildren Cathy (Keith) and Michael, grandchildren Garrett, Landon, Brittney (Jeremy) and Madison; sister-in-law Betty; brother-in-law Ralph; as well as nieces and nephews. Dad was born on February 21, 1938, in Winnipeg and spent his life working the family farm in Clandeboye. Dad's greatest gift was that he loved people. He loved our family, providing a home that was filled with laughter, teasing, encouragement, guidance and support, while caring for all of our needs. His desire and efforts to take care of us the best way he could continued even up to his last moments of life. He loved his friends and immensely enjoyed time spent working with, helping, laughing and having a drink with them. He was blessed with many very good friends and neighbours who meant so much to him. He particularly cherished Chris, Dale and John who truly ranked as family for Dad. His circle of friends was immense and included people from everywhere he went. It seemed all he encountered from animals to people young and old responded to Dad's warm spirit. Dad loved living in a small town and his connection to the community was important to him; he served with his time and talents wherever he could. He loved spending time with his hockey team, managing and playing as one of the original members of the Clandeboye Old Timers until he was 72. Dad was both incredibly strong and an inspiring example of acceptance and contentment. Throughout his life he gracefully endured many trials but he never complained, often consoling himself with the words he so often used to console others: "this too shall pass." He was very comfortable in his own skin and was comfortable with other people, accepting them as they were. He worked hard his entire life and was generous and willing to help anyone in need. He will be fondly remembered by all who loved him. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk Manitoba. A private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Ed was one of those people you never forget, full of love and life. He was someone I aspired to be like as I grew up. We will all miss you knowing you are in heaven with all. - Posted by: stan lotscher (friend and farm hand in the good olds) on: Dec 29, 2015

It was always a pleasure to be called out to the Kamer farm to advise Ed and brother Joe. They always made you feel welcome and you never left without many a good laugh. Ed was a sincere, honest and greatful man with a wonderful sense of humour. Many phone calls from Ed started with "your looking good today". Rest in peace. - Posted by: Rick Hnatiuk (Friend) on: Mar 06, 2015

We will miss Ed very much, we will especially miss his visits in the summer when he would drive through the field on the gator to drop in while we were outside in the yard. He always had time for us when we were going for a walk and stopped in at his house for a visit. He brightened our days with his jokes and stories and gave meaning to the word neighbor. - Posted by: Jodi and Joel (Neighbor) on: Mar 06, 2015

So many memories of this man! He was a neighbour like none other. He could always make you laugh no matter what. Between him and his brother Joe you were hopelessly at their mercy with laughter. Our heart goes out to his dear friends and his family at this sad time of loss. I am sure that as we gather together to honor his memory that oddly through the sorrow we will laugh as we share our memories of Ed. - Posted by: Terry and Muriel waterman (neighbour) on: Mar 04, 2015

One of my heros, a mentor, a friend, a delight - has gone to greener pastures. I imagine he will be making certain those pastures are perfect. That was his way. An amazing man with incredible work ethic and a zest for life not often matched, Ed was welcome wherever he happened to be. I have not known life without him and he will be missed by my family and by me. Such wonderful memories are mine. - Posted by: Laura Foster Tutlies (Friend - Neighbor - Fan) on: Mar 04, 2015

Eddie was a very good friend, he had helped me out when we were neighbors some fifty years ago. My wife Jean and I where very shocked when we heard of his passing. Our thoughts go with you all. Allan - Posted by: Allan Leask (School friend and neighbor) on: Mar 02, 2015
