KETURAH MATHESON Sunrise June 4, 1911 - Sunset February 23, 2015 Keturah (Katie) passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her daughter Carmen Reynolds. Keturah was predeceased by her parents Priscilla (nee Rudd) and James Matheson; thirteen siblings; daughters Audrey and Delores; sons Edward and Robert; and four grandchildren. Born and raised in Jamaica, Katie immigrated to the United States in 1971 where she lived with her daughter Delores until 1998 when she returned to Jamaica. In 2000 she was brought to Canada by her only daughter Carmen Reynolds with whom she resided and was lovingly cared for over the past 15 years. Left to mourn her passing are daughter Carmen; sons Derrick and Carl (Jean); seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; honourary son Ted Ahlgren; nieces Joyce Jeffelholz/Rea (Ottawa) and her family and Carolee Scott (Florida) and her family; numerous other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and many friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. A celebration of Katie's life will follow on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, with interment and reception thereafter. The family wishes to extend their thanks to all the staff of the Emergency Department and those nurses and auxiliary staff on 3 South (Grace Hospital) who were kind to us; Dr. Mark Clark and staff of the St. James Access Centre; Home Care personnel, especially Alliana and Vilma; the Palliative Care team; and Pastor and Mrs. L. Dennie for their support. Special thanks to Ted Ahlgren who helped with her care throughout the past 15 years; Shiela and Handel Taylor; Margaret Dryden; and all our friends and church family.
