HYDE HAYDEN FERN STEVENS April 4, 2000 - March 1, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our son, Hyde Stevens. Hyde was a grade nine student at Roseau Valley School in Dominion City, Manitoba. He loved sports, especially hockey. Hyde started playing hockey in 2010, playing for the Southern Steelers and one year for Altona Maroons Bantam. He had many friends and liked to make people laugh. He was predeceased by his father Leonard Stevens Sr.; his maternal grandparents Alfred Smith and Rose Hayden; his maternal grandmother Lucy Stevens, and his uncle Joe Smith. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother Sherelyn Hayden (Vernon Alexander), his brothers and sister: Lacey Stevens, Joseph Stevens, Leonard Stevens Jr. (LJ); his aunts and uncles: Sheldon Smith (Ruby Nelson), Alfred Hayden (Evelyn Patrick), Charles Smith (Barbara Smith), Barry Smith (Jerilyn Smith), Candice Smith (Henry Hayden), Sheri Slater (Toby Slater), Fern Petit; many cousins, family and friends. He also leaves to mourn his passing, his team mates: Gino Martin, Darius Thomas, Delvis Thomas, Riley Naytowhow, Quinton Henry, Oscar Graham, Brendan Spence, Troy McDougall, Benny Heppner, Nathan Ayotte, Sean Penner, Chaylin OcKo-Kurarz, Cole Scott and Mason Giesbrecht. Wake and funeral services will be held at the Ginew School. Wake will be held Tuesday March 3, 2015. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements Entrusted To: Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451

  • I didn't know you that much, and I know I'm doing this so long after your passing, but I still remember seeing you at the school with a bright smile on your face, talking and laughing with your friends. I clearly remember at your funeral I ran into one of the classrooms and just stood there crying. I miss seeing your smile and your laugh, I really liked how happy you were.   • I have known Hyde for 5 almost 6 years. He always had a smile on his face. He was an amazing guy to hang with not only on the Roseau First Nations but at our youth events. I would help out at Jr. Youth and would love hanging with Hyde and some other guys. He was creative, and outgoing, he got along with everyone, I enjoyed talking to him and just having him around. Hyde we all miss you, you will never be forgotten, and knowing you, you and your father will watch over everyone making sure we are safe and having a good time.   • I remember the very first time Nick had brought you over to our home. You sat outside and was far too shy to come in and have diner with us. As the years passed we always enjoyed seeing you and Nick go out into the neighbourhood on your bikes and just be kids. Then it seemed you were just another member of the house hold coming and going up on the second floor where Nicks room was or hanging out at the park or behind the post office in town. Then when Mr Toms told you not to do that back flip at the Christmas pageant but you did it just the same to a standing ovation of the 300 plus people that were there. Rest in peace young man.   • I remember when we were in grade 5 when we would hangout. That was fun you always made me laugh when I was sad. It just seemed like you sensed that I was sad.
