Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGHERITA GUZZI (nee ABIUSI) It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and loving grandmother on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at St. Boniface Hospital. Mom leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, four devoted daughters, Giovanna (Rocco) DeStefano; Maria (Domenico) Gagliardi; Laura (Mick) Rossi; and Francesca (Michael) Hawthorne. She also leaves ten wonderful grandchildren, Nick (Linda) DeStefano; Felice (Simona) DeStefano; Michael (Jessica) Gagliardi; Angela (Brad) McInnis; Margherita (Jessen) Appasamy; Sussana, Sabrina, and Tony Rossi; Joshua and Amanda Hawthorne. As well, eight beautiful great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Mateo, Rocco, Sofia, Michela, Josephine, Madelyn and Sydney. Mom is also survived by her sisters, Caterina Colombo, Laura Bassani, Fernanda (Hugo) Clenar, and sister-in-law Giovanna Abiusi in Argentina; brother Gregorio (Maria) Abiusi in Italy; sister-in-law Anna Guzzi; brother-in-law Angelo (Francesca) Guzzi in Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Rosina Marsico in Italy and Francesca Guzzi in Argentina. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins in Argentina, Italy and Winnipeg. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Felice; her parents Giuseppe and Maria Abiusi; brother Dante Abiusi; brothers-in-law Giovanni Colombo; Ruben Bassani; Antonio (Toto) Guzzi; and niece Nancy Colombo in Argentina. Parents-in-law Francesco and Giovanna Guzzi; brothers-in-law Luigi (Giuseppina) Guzzi; Pasquale Marsico in Italy; brothers-in-law Carlo Guzzi; Agostino (Rosa) Guzzi; and nephew Frank Guzzi in Winnipeg. Mom was born in Miglierina, Calabria, Italy on February 24, 1928. She married the love of her life, our dad Felice in 1950. With their first two daughters Giovanna and Maria, they moved to Argentina in 1955. Then in 1963, Mom left her beloved parents and siblings, with daughters in tow, to join our Dad in Winnipeg, who had immigrated here two years prior. Mom and Dad completed their family with the births of their next two daughters, Laura and Francesca. Mom dedicated her entire life to her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for all of us, and sharing her talent of crocheting, knitting and sewing with her daughters and granddaughters. Her strength and courage was unmatched and evident throughout her entire life. She instilled in us the importance of faith, hard work, love and integrity. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue, with Father Sam Argenziano as the Celebrant. Viewing and condolences will begin in church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow mass in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Avenue. Active Pallbearers will be Nick DeStefano, Felice DeStefano, Michael Gagliardi, Tony Rossi, Brad McInnis, Jessen Appasamy; and Joshua Hawthorne as the Honorary Pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Manitoba Lung Association, or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Rest in Peace Mama. You will be forever in our hearts. Giovanna, very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Our sincerest condolences to you and Rocco, and extended family, at this very sad time. We go back to the '60's when you first arrived with family from Arg to join your Dad, Signor Felice, you went to school and became good friends with my sister, Josie. Though your Mom has left this earthly world, know that she lives on via her memories forever impressed in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
