ARCHIE BARON It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Archie Baron on Sunday, March 8, 2015. He will be loved and missed forever by his son, Ken (Marilyn); his daughter, Robyn (James); his grandchildren, Melanie (Josh), Kathleena and Brennan; his sister, Isabel (Bill), brother-in-law Bill (Marilyn), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean and his son, Ron. Known to friends and family as a friendly, warmhearted and cheerful man, his loving nature would always shine through. His sense of humour, infectious smile and contagious laugh brightened our days. Archie was born on April 30, 1930 in Dauphin, MB, where he was raised with his four siblings. He worked for CN for over 40 years in Winnipeg and Edmonton. His work as a steward on the business cars were some of his happiest days. Along with his wife Jean, his lifelong love, they raised Ken, Ron and Robyn in their Winnipeg home. Archie's commitment to his community included serving on City Council and coaching hockey and baseball. Cottage life brought much joy to his family for many years. A celebration of Archie's life will take place on Friday, March, 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at the Seine River Retirement Residence, 1015 St. Anne's Road. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Foundation. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Although we only knew Archie for a short time, we will truly miss him. He and Dad were neighbours at the River Ridge Residence for the past few months and shared remarkable compassion for each other. Our thoughts are with you, Ken and Marilyn, at this difficult time. We feel fortunate to have met your dad. - Posted by: The Sawchuks () on: Mar 13, 2015

  • Archie, we will always remember the good times with you, Jean, Tom and Martha. Our trip to Maui was special to you and Jean, as you spoke about it often. At Lester Beach, playing cards till the wee hours of the morning, the fish fries we all enjoyed and the "happy hours", only to name a few, are precious. Even when picking blueberries we had a lot of laughs and lots of berries too, when we didn't spill them. Our trips to Edmonton left us with memories to last a lifetime. We will miss you Archie. - Posted by: Harry & Shirley Diakiw (Friends) on: Mar 12, 2015

  • My brother was very special to me, always enjoyed the times we had together. He will always be in my heart. - Posted by: Isabelle Holtz (Sister) on: Mar 12, 2015

  • Irvin, Peggy and Shawn wish to send our sympathy to Ken and Marilyn, Robyn and James in the loss of their Dad. We remember Archie, Jean and Ron with good memories, the Baron Family were neighbours with the Blair Family for many years. - Posted by: Margaret (Peggy) Blair (Former Parkhill Neighbour) on: Mar 12, 2015

  • A great guy, full of smiles, and great stories. I will always remember him and my dad swapping railroad stories at Crooked Lake many years ago. A true gentleman who will be missed. Our deepest condolences to all the family. Regards Phil & Maggie - Posted by: Phil McGregor (Friend) on: Mar 11, 2015

  • It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute, although it has been years since I have been in Archie's company, I always considered him as a true friend from our days at the shop gate at our suppers at Alex. One of the good times was our trip up to Melville for Ron's wedding in the rented Van. To all the family my sincere condolences and may Archie and Jean enjoy their life together in that place here after. Take care - Posted by: Boyd Kramble (friend) on: Mar 11, 2015

  • Archie and Jean were friends of our family for the last 60 years. My parents and the Barons shared many great times at their cabins at Lester Beach, on trips, especially their month in Maui, and through a large circle of friends. We will always remember the Tom and Archie Horseshoe Tournament that ran for 20 years and memories of Archie breaking 2 eggs with 1 hand at the horseshoe breakfast. His seafood casserole was second to none. Archie and Jean treated our kids like gold and were very special in our kids' lives. Alex was lucky enough to have visited with Archie shortly before he passed away. Archie will be missed but now he can get together with Jean and my parents for a game of cards. - Posted by: The Cassels (Friends) on: Mar 11, 2015
