LINDA CAROL LEFKO (nee COUMONT) September 19, 1945 - March 17, 2015 On Tuesday, March 17, 2015 Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 69 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mom left behind her husband Clarence, her children, the 3 D's, Doug (Michelle), Darryl, Delayna (Jack), and three grandchildren Danielle, Jordan and Cristian to carry on her memory. Each of us have so much of her within us. She also leaves behind her brother Gerald Coumont (Donna); mother-in-law Jean Kuzminski; brother-in-law Lawrence Lefko (Shirley); sister-in-law Marilyn Coumont, nieces, a nephew, cousins, and numerous friends that will miss her dearly. Mom was predeceased by her father Francis Coumont; mother Audrey Coumont (McRae); brother Gordon Coumont, and father-in-law Walter Lefko. Mom grew up in Selkirk, Manitoba. Mom was always a strong, independent woman. She left school in grade 10 to pursue a career in hairdressing. She opened her own hair salon and thrived on socializing with her clients whom she loved. Family was always the most important aspect of her life. When she met Dad, they were committed for life (52 years). Mom and Dad built a great life together, which gave her the opportunity to make many wonderful memories. They moved from Manitoba to Ontario, to Alberta, then back to Manitoba and had fantastic friends in all locations. She took great pride in staying at home to raise her children, as they were always her number one priority. This allowed her to achieve the balance that made her most happy. Mom was beyond proud of her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind her three cats and her four grand puppies. Mom was an animal lover by nature and passed this love on to all of her children and grandchildren. A house was not a home without a furry family member present. Mom had a passion for gardening and had a natural green thumb. Later in life, she played golf, as it gave her time to exercise and socialize. Another great pleasure was being a Snowbird in Texas with Dad for 10 years. In the final week of her life in the hospital, she stayed so strong for all of us. She put others before herself right till the end. We all cherished her last days, listening to plenty of Neil Diamond and ABBA and the energy we got from her at the hospital was inspiring. She was the most incredible Mom ever! We would like to thank the hospital staff at Health Sciences Centre for meeting all of Mom's wishes. Especially Jan and Charlene, two nurses that went above and beyond for us. Finally, my mom's niece Donna Hutton was our rock through this process and we would not have been as strong for Mom without her love, guidance and support. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima Street, Selkirk, MB. A luncheon with Mom's favourite music will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation: www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
