Mr Mignault and I never met but he had a profound impact on my life, more than I believe he ever knew. On May 31, 1995, he wrote a letter to Bill Gates on Ladco Company Limited letterhead. In that letter he included the following: "I've enclosed an article pertaining to a bright young mind who resides in our province of Manitoba since I am certain you are always on the lookout for future talent. You'll note the quote in the article 'He's the next Bill Gates' etc., etc. I am certain after reading this article you will want to communicate with this young man. I feel he would contribute greatly to your organization." One of Bill's assistants received his letter on June 6, 1995, and kicked it over to recruiting. Recruiting called me and asked if I wanted to fly to Seattle for a summer internship interview. I did, interviewed, and got the internship. That first internship lead to a second one the next summer, and then full-time employment at Microsoft starting in 1998. I stayed there for 13 years before moving to another Seattle company. This year is my 20th year of living in Seattle and it never would have happened had Mr Mignault not sent that letter. My entire career in software started because of that one letter, sent to Bill Gates, despite him having never met me. I'm sorry I never got a chance to thank him personally for what he did, so I'll do it now. Thank you Mr Mignault! - Posted by: Neil Enns () on: Jan 07, 2016

I just heard about Michel...We are so sad to hear about his recent death. He was always so friendly and happy when we would meet and chat in Holy Rosary Church, prior to the 9:00 Sunday Mass... My most sincere sympathy to you, Lorraine, and your family. With Love, Marni and Marcel Chartier - Posted by: Marni and Marcel Chartier (Friends from Holy Rosary Church) on: May 08, 2015

Michel has been such an example of dutiful ministry where his commitment to Holy Rosary Church and his participation Sundays at 9 am Mass as a reader has been a positive influence to us all. He will be missed. - Posted by: Louise Lemoine (Fellow parishioner @ Holy Rosary Church) on: Mar 24, 2015

Michel and I met in 1976 when we both reported to work at a new job the same day! We quickly became friends and spent many hours working together. Over the years we went separate ways, however our friendship continued through the years and even though many miles separated us for the last 25+ years we kept in contact with each other. Lorraine when I received the call from you, I was so saddened and shocked. My prayers go out to you and the family in this time of grief. Keep strong as that is what he would have wanted you to do! Please remember that I am here for you if you ever need me. Rest in peace my good friend! Until we meet again someday, I will be thinking of you. - Posted by: Larry Hilderman (Friend) on: Mar 23, 2015

Michel was a wonderful man. I dealt with him on a professional basis and found him to always be helpful, attentive to detail and he had a great sense of humour. I will miss having him to call on. Sincerest sympathy to you Lorraine at this most difficult time. Jacque - Posted by: Jacqueline MacMunn O'Neill (Friend & Colleague) on: Mar 23, 2015

I have known Michel since the mid 70's. We graduated as CPM's in the 70's. Mike always conducted himself as a professional. He served the community and our industry through Board service and as an educator. Mike will be missed. - Posted by: pete sanderson (friend and colleague ) on: Mar 21, 2015
