Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Mrs Boon was a great inspiration with her constant love of languages. As a student in 1980 with Applied Linguistics, for six months she gave me a strong desire to better myself. I was a university student from Quebec City and Mrs Boon had a real influence on my career choices. I understand that it has been many years since she passed, but she is still very present in my thoughts. Richard Martel From Toronto - Posted by: Richard Martel (Student ) on: Dec 09, 2024

  • It is with sadness that we mark the loss of Julia Boon, our step-grandmother and great-grandmother. We always looked forward to our visits with her on our many returns to Winnipeg from overseas. Phone calls and letters were nice, but not as nice as settling into her couch for a good chat. Kathy, Peter and son, Haydon. - Posted by: Kathy France (family) on: Apr 05, 2015

  • Mrs. Boon was a good friend and a great lady, of high culture and scholarship. Mrs. Julia Boon's contributions to the Hellenic Professional Association of Manitoba (1986- ): - Active member for many years. - Instrumental in its creation – Chairperson of the Constitution Committee for the first draft of the Constitution. - President 1989-90. - Graciously hosted at her house four very successful Members’ Christmas parties. - Posted by: Dr. Lefkos Anastasiades (Friend) on: Mar 29, 2015

  • Sorry for your loss. She was a great lady and helped countless immigrants learn English. My Father was also Bulgarian, so I knew her through my parents Iwan and Elisabeth Marinow. - Posted by: Annemarie Anderson (nee Marinow)) (Friend of Julia's) on: Mar 28, 2015
