Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARSHALL MCDOUGALL With broken hearts, our family announces the peaceful passing of Marshall McDougall on April 6, 2015. His loving family never left his side, especially during his last days. He was our rock, our right arm, our listening ear, and was our someone to lean on. His kind and loving heart will be missed by all those he leaves behind. Marshall was a strong and honest man, committed to his values, friends and foremost to his family. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 29 years, Rosemary, his two daughters Laurie (Joël) and Alanna (Marc), and a large network of very dear family and friends. Marshall's kindness, selflessness, generosity and sense of humour will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by all of us. We are fortunate to have had such a powerful example of a truly honourable man in our lives. A celebration of Marshall's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your husband, and Dad. I knew Marshall for much too short a time, but felt an instant connection to his work ethic, integrity, authenticity, knowledge and his willingness to share that knowledge without making you feel lesser-than. Never a more genuine Civil Servant have I had the honour to work with. I will certainly miss his quick wit, honest opinions and his ability to fix the ridiculous problems I continuously threw at him. And from what I understand, he was the same back in school...always willing to listen in earnest and help with what he could. Rest in peace Marshall. - Posted by: Brent Millar and Bev MacCutcheon (Collegue and high school friend) on: Apr 14, 2015

To my dear friend Rosemary and her beautiful daughters Laurie, and Alanna, My heart is so heavy, and I grieve with you over the loss of Marshall, your faithful husband, encouraging father, and trusted friend. My memories of Marshall are of him as a devoted husband and father. He was so in love with all of you and so proud of your accomplishments. Marshall was a man who could fix anything, no task too big or too small. His talents were many. He always enjoyed life to the fullest, and always with a huge smile on his face. My favourite memories always bring me back to times spent around your kitchen table, sharing a rye and coke, a big plate of nachos, and lots of laughter. I treasure those memories, and I will miss you Marshall, and your warm welcoming hugs. Earth's loss is heaven's gain. May you take comfort in knowing that Marshall is no longer suffering or in any pain. Praying for you all, and asking God to guide you through your sorrow so that you grieve well. May your many happy memories bring you a measure of joy as you mourn his passing. With love and my deepest sympathy, Sheila - Posted by: Sheila Klassen (Former neighbour and Friend) on: Apr 13, 2015

I have only known Marshall for a year but it felt like we have known each other for a long time. He has greatly impacted my philosophy in life and at work. I look up to him like an older brother and he inspires me on how he stand for what he believes in. He is my Linux guru and I was really looking forward in learning more from him. He is the "Marshall" like literally and the voice of our group. To his family and specially Rosemary, my hearfelt condolences. ~ Manny - Posted by: Emmanuel Diaz (Co-worker) on: Apr 10, 2015

We had the pleasure of knowing Marshall, Rosemary and the girls as we were neighbours 20 years ago. It was such a shock to hear of Marshall's passing as we haven't seen them in quite a while. We do however remember what people are consistently saying about Marshall...always a smile on his face and Rosemary and his girls meant the world to him, he was so proud of them. Are hearts go out to you Rosemary, Laurie and Alanna. We pray that the memories you have all created as a family will carry you through all the difficult moments ahead. Please know we are thinking of you all. - Posted by: Leo and Carmen Cloutier (Former neighbour) on: Apr 10, 2015

Rosemary, Laurie, Alanna, Joel and Mark and all the rest of the family, our hearts and thoughts go out to you. I met Marshall when I hired him at TEC Canada, and then followed him to his next adventure and we've been friends with the whole family ever since. Now we will cherish our fond memories of camping with Marshall’s family, spending Christmas eves’ at Rosemary and Marshall's, and all the years we worked together. I will never forget the weekend Marshall and I spent at Canada's Wonderland together during some training, we rode every roller coaster in that park! Marshall had the energy, wisdom and perseverance to take on any task or project and if he didn't know it, he'd figure it out. Rosemary and Marshall's last project, his new house is a fine example of that! Marshall will be missed by everyone, especially his loving and devoted wife and family. - Posted by: Don Hebert (Friend) on: Apr 10, 2015

Tribute: We've all heard that old cliché, no one ever says how good you were at work or remembers those special things you did there. Well I disagree, especially when it comes to Marshall. I first met Marshall in 2007 when he was assigned to be part of this big project . . . ARPS. Some of you have no idea what that means. Anyone involved knows what I mean and those who work closely with Marshall may have heard him muttering something about it under his breath. Despite all the roadblocks, he was always up to the challenge. No matter how dire thinks looked, Marshall would pull a rabbit out of his hat, and save the day. His dedication impacted many, from a dozen or so techies, the couple of dozen front line operational folks, to the thousand or more customers that used the system every day. Marshall always had a unique way of dealing with things and those that really knew him appreciated his tact. He is truly missed, Cheers Marshall! - Posted by: Roy Hamilton (Freind and co-worker from MIT) on: Apr 10, 2015

I worked with Marshall from 1996 to 2006, when I retired. Marshall was always up-beat. I never saw him without a smile. On Monday mornings during our weekly meeting, he would tell us stories involving Laurie and Alana. He was so proud of them. The Lord must have needed a (go to) IT guy. He made work a good place to be. He is gone too soon. I know I am a better person for having known him. - Posted by: Phil Montpetit (former co-worker) on: Apr 10, 2015

Rosemary, Laurie and Alanna, we are so sorry for your loss. We will miss Marshall. We will miss his smile and his happy go lucky way. In the 20 years that we have known you two, I never saw Marshall without a smile on his face. I think that is a tribute to your relationship, it was so clear that you two were "mad" about each other. I believe that Marshall has that great smile on his face again. We hope you take comfort in all of your good memories and that your tears of pain will turn into tears of joy and hope. - Posted by: Susan and Ken Wight (Friends) on: Apr 08, 2015
