BROCK NICKOLAS SHACHTAY
Date of Passing: Apr 07, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBROCK NICKOLAS SHACHTAY It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving son, brother, father, godfather, uncle and great uncle, Brock Shachtay, on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Far too soon, at the tender age of 52 years, Brock leaves behind his son, Aaron (Rebecca), parents, Frieda and Nick, sisters, Barb (Claude), Gale (Gerry), Audrey (Ray), goddaughter Angela, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Brock was a great guy and worked hard. But most of all he enjoyed time with his family, winter vacations, Nutimik Lake, ball hockey, gaming and dancing to one of his favorite songs, Footloose. He was also a huge Winnipeg Jets fan. We would like to thank all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who cared for Brock in emergency, floor 5, and ICU. In keeping with Brock's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Brock may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. "Because someone we love is in Heaven, There's a little bit of Heaven in our house." The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. To the family I am sorry for your loss. I knew Brock in my younger years. We did hang out on occasion, but I knew him better from playing hockey with him. At times he would make me laugh with one of his lines. - Posted by: Tick Rowson (Friend) on: Apr 14, 2015

Brock, I never had the pleasure of meeting you personally, however I met your family in the ICU waiting room as we were there visiting my mother. I spoke to your sister on many occasions and she always had such wonderful, amazing things to say about you. She spoke of how close you were to your family, which was evidenced by the fact the waiting room was packed every day with people wanting to wish you well. She spoke of your travels, and how you would always join her on trips. You were definitely well loved, appreciated and supported by your family. I know you will be missed by all of them, and Raven who I also had the pleasure of meeting. She's a special dog for a special man. You and your family will be in my family's thoughts and prayers. -Kathy Stanish (the girl with the purple cane) - Posted by: Kathy Stanish () on: Apr 13, 2015

You will be missed. You were always there, no matter what was needed and you helped me in more ways than I can say. I am sure there is dancing in heaven, so keep a space open on your dance card till we see each other again. I Love you Cuz. - Posted by: victoria Terin (Cousin) on: Apr 13, 2015

Wish I would have kept in closer contact. Years ago Brock was the "pesty" little brother who always gave me as much as I could handle. Great times and great memories. Brock will be missed by all friends and family. - Posted by: Rob Sawchuk (3rd Cousin) on: Apr 13, 2015

Brock was always quite the kid...but as he told me years later...I growed up! His exact words. He was a kind, good man. Our hearts are saddened to hear of his passing. Shawn and Jennifer have fond memories of Brock taking us to the lake and teaching them to knee board. He will be sadly missed.
