GIL JOHNSON
Born: Oct 26, 1950
Date of Passing: Mar 30, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGIL JOHNSON OCTOBER 26, 1950 MARCH 30, 2015 I would like to invite you to a celebration of my wonderful time on this planet. I passed away after a short illness with cancer. I leave my wife, Debbie of 42 years, my daughter Corinne (Kurtis) and my son, Jeff (Laura). My children will never know how proud I was of the way they grew up being model adults, displaying a great work ethic. My grandsons, Cole and Conner were my greatest joys. I enjoyed the "sleep overs" and looked forward to them. Unfortunately, I was just getting to know Brandon and Miles, both seem like good kids. Of course, my mother-in-law Ginny was always an inspiration. I was predeceased by my dad (Henry), my mom (Lucille) and my sister (Doris). As I mentioned I had a great time on earth. My professional career saw many successes starting with obtaining my CGA degree in 1977. Until my retirement in April 2013, I worked for companies that allowed my career to grow and experience a variety of exciting business transactions. My life was not all work though. My love for sports which included baseball, hockey, Tae Kwon Do and golf allowed me to meet a lot of people, most of whom I was proud to call a "friend". My years at St. Boniface Golf Course and K.S. Cho College were among my fondest sporting and friendship memories. Especially bringing Cole and Conner out, for some putting lessons, even though I was hardly qualified to teach them! Now they are both enrolled in Tae Kwon Do. I would like to thank the numerous doctors, nurses, DI and lab staff at all the hospitals where I was treated and who worked with me during my illness. Their dedication and loyalty to their respective positions is commendable. A celebration of my life will be held at St. Boniface Golf Club on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date. Although I always stopped to smell the flowers while I was alive, I can't do that anymore. So rather than flowers, a contribution to any children's charity of your choice would be appreciated. Kids are the future and giving them joy or opportunity is everything an adult can do for them. Who knows, some kid out there might just discover the cure for this awful disease! ~ Gil Soul mates forever throughout eternity, I know I'll always find you wherever you are, No matter the consequence, No matter how far, Even in death I shall love you more, To fuel my search to find you, So we shall love once more, Across space and time, you are drawn to me, One love, one life, we are destined to be, Soul mates forever, throughout eternity. ~ Debbie THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

I met Gil and his son Jeff, by chance, at the Chicago Bear - Minnesota Viking game in..., I don't remember what year? But, Gil (a Viking fan) and Jeff (a Bear fan) were warm receptive people. Jeff and I are still friends to this day. We Tailgated with Gil at a few other Bear-Viking games and met for lunch one day in Winnipeg. Gil was a great guy. My only regret was that we never got to play golf together but, as a lasting memorial, I will remember Gil whenever I tee it up! Fore, GIL! - Posted by: Greg Petricig (Friend) on: Apr 13, 2015

I worked with Gil and he certainly left his footprint. Gil was a great mentor, knowledgeable, patient, understanding and thoughtful. His sense of humor was very much appreciated as were the stories he shared of his family, especially his grandchildren. My deepest condolences to Debbie and family. - Posted by: Cheryl Patterson (Co-Worker) on: Apr 13, 2015

Gil always welcomed you with a warm smile when you entered his office and he always thanked you for your help when you left, even if you left him with more problems than solutions. It was such a delight working with Gil. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Karen MacKenzie (co-worker) on: Apr 13, 2015

Although we were quite apart in age and that I didn't get a chance to know you I do recall your mother Tante Lucille being very proud of Gilbert. It saddens me that yet another one of our cousins has been taken from this earth by such a quick cancer. May God bless your soul and watch over us from above. Deepest sympathies to Debbie and the children. - Posted by: Gabriel Ayotte (1st cousin) on: Apr 12, 2015
