GERALD PIERRE JOSEPH MARION December 21, 1938 - April 11, 2015 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Peacefully with family by his side, Gerald left us, on April 11, 2015 at 12:15 a.m. at the Selkirk General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved family, wife Emily; his very special dogs Filly and Darwin; his children Diane (Gerald), grandchild Corey; Annette (John), grandchildren Destiny (Marcello) and Matthew; Elaine (John), grandchildren, Jessica (Dexter) and Jordan (Chelsea); Lionel (Lorna), grandchildren Michelle (Andrew) great-grandchild Zack, Karly (Justin) great-grandchild Grayson and Ryan (Samantha); Ernest (Kim), grandchildren, Jenna (Mark) great-grandchild Aleksandra, Darcy (Jeff) and Cory (Rebecca); Claude (Karen), grandchildren, Justin (Linh) and Megan (Conrad), special mention to his brother Johnny (Glenna), and sister-in-law Imelda (Leopold) as well as his four sisters Anita, Marie, Denise, Madeline; three more brothers Roger, Ronnie, Harvey; sisters and brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gerald was predeceased by his parents Frank and Marie Marion and his mother and father-in-law Marie and John Moriaux. Gerald was born in Ste. Amelie, Manitoba and moved to Dryden, Ontario in 1956, where he and Emily were married on November 30, 1957. He worked at the Dryden Paper Mill, and after that made his living as a professional truck Driver, until Gerald, Emily, and their three sons started a family trucking business, Marion Trucking and he was there until he retired. After leaving Ontario they moved back to Ste. Rose Du Lac, Manitoba then moved to Winnipeg, East St. Paul and to St. Andrews in 1988 where they currently reside. Gerald loved tinkering with old cars, camping, travelling, going for rides, country music and fiddling music. He loved his dogs, like they were his children (probably better!! Haha!) Gerald had a great sense of humour, he was a very compassionate and a caring person, and he had a special bond with each of his grandchildren and recently enjoyed his great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to the staff of HSC-H5, Dr. Hochman and Dr. Sutherland, and the Staff at Selkirk General Hospital and Dr. Zoppa for taking such good care of our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Prayers will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, Manitoba, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima Street, Selkirk, Manitoba, on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to. Cremation will follow the Mass and a private interment will be at Notre Dame Cemetery, Selkirk, Manitoba at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare; Winnipeg Humane Society or Manitoba Mutt Dog Rescue. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
