Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTHONY (TONY) PARADOSKI It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Paradoski on April 24, 2015. Tony leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Marjorie; daughters, Mona, Esther, and Georgette; sons-in-law, Inderaj and Steve; grandchildren, Anthony (Amanda), Christina, Bradley (Christie), Kari, Kalyn (Kendall), Jyoti, and Slater, and his great grandchildren Evan, Kaitlyn, Teagan, Charlee, Branden, and Casey. Tony also leaves his brother Stanley, and his sisters-in-law Donalda and Laura. Tony was predeceased by his beloved daughter Mary-Allyson; sisters Tillie and Helen; brothers Joe and Walter, and his parents Antonia and Albert. Tony was born in his parents' home in St. Andrews, Manitoba on March 1, 1929, the youngest of 6 children. Tony lived his entire life in St. Andrews and was well known and well-liked in the community. He spent his life farming in the area and built a successful electrical business. He was also instrumental in the creation of a volunteer fire department in St. Andrews, and served the department for 25 years with several of them as Fire Chief before his retirement. In his later years after stopping grain farming, Tony became an avid gardener, taking great pride in the vegetables he grew. Tony, a huge hockey fan and season ticket holder, loved to attend Selkirk Steeler games with his daughter and grandchildren. Tony also loved to go hunting and passed this love onto his nephew and grandson. Besides, hunting in nearby fields for geese, he also went on hunting trips with his good friends and these trips would require days of packing and were a source of great excitement to him. They also became a source of excitement to his young daughters, who would anxiously await his return and would finally have access to all of the left-over chocolate bars and drinks from his trip. Tony, the father of 4 daughters, was part of the equal rights movement. It was important to him that his girls learned to drive a tractor and operate equipment. As his daughters grew older and the family expanded, grandchildren were recruited to work on the farm. At very young ages, everyone was involved in shovelling grain, splitting wood, and hilling potatoes. Many a Father's Day were spent in the field planting potatoes, with Mona teasing "Dad, can't we just play baseball today, like the other families?" He taught us to work hard and have fun and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. We will miss him dearly and remember him forever. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

We will never forget those blue eyes and that bigger than life smile! Tony put out many fires with the St. Andrews Fire Dept., and while farming with his old equipment, started a few of his own! Tony had the finest collection of old tractors, cars, trucks, a snow airplane, you name it - it was hiding in the shop or in the back yard. Tony was wise beyond his years and was willing to share with anybody willing to listen and learn. Many stories were exchanged at the coffee shops in the area, and sometimes you needed a #2 shovel to get through them. Tony is a character that our community will never be able to replace. Happy trails old friend. - Posted by: Brent & Laurie Polson (Family Friend) on: Apr 28, 2015

I extend condolences on behalf of the Shelemy family. We have fond childhood memories watching Mr Paradoski over the fence as he worked on his antique tractors, welded, and hauled hay. He always had something interesting (worth jumping over the fence and taking a look at) and he stirred our imagination in our childhood play. Our neighbourhood won't be the same without him. - Posted by: Guy Shelemy (life-long, next door neighbour) on: Apr 27, 2015
