Date of Passing: May 01, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUDITH MCKENZIE On May 1, 2015, Judith McKenzie left this earth to be in the arms of heaven's angels with her beloved husband of sixty-three years and soulmate Colin. Judy is survived by her son Richard (Bara); daughters Carol and Sandra (Joey); four granddaughters Katie Rose, Caitlin, Amelia and Jillian; as well as sister Allie Lumsden. She was predeceased by her husband Colin; mother Elizabeth; father Michael; and many relatives including brother Archie Butassy; sister Lucy Fabro; son-in-law Gordon Eliasson and daughter-in-law Pia Carroll. Judy was sweet and kind to everyone, her smile would light up a room and her talents were numerous. She was a skilled accountant and business woman, working for Dominion Rubber and then Eaton's while raising her family. Judy was an active person who curled avidly in the winters and enjoyed gardening and golfing in the summers. She served as President of the Pembina Curling Club Business Ladies' League and belonged with Colin to the Transcona Golf Course and the Crescent Drive Golf Course Ladies' Club. Colin was a Second World War veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy and he and Judy were longtime members of the White Ensign and Fort Garry Legion Branch #90. Judy continued Wednesday shuffle at the legion until this April. Mondays and Fridays were reserved for bridge with her friends of Dakota House. Judy was sharp minded, lively and had a real wit. A one of a kind character who will be deeply missed, especially by her close family of which she was the centre. We are grateful for the long and healthy life of our Mom and Grammy, and will carry on the many lessons and gifts she has given to us. We will always love you. Please join the family for a tea to celebrate and give thanks for Judy on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. In honour of Colin's thirty-six years of service with the Winnipeg Fire Department, it is Judy's wish for donations to be made to the Winnipeg Firefighters Burn Fund Inc., 303-83 Garry Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9. So shocked to hear of Judy's passing. I got to know your Mom at Riverview when your Dad was there. My son Brian Mykietowich was on the same ward and we enjoyed your Mother's company. We would visit in the sun room there, outside in the summer and in the cafeteria. Your Mom was very outgoing but spoke up for the patients there at a meeting one time. We said " GO GET THEM JUDY" She was a lot of fun. Then when I started doing Home Care at Dakota House I would always see her there and she would always have a little chit chat and always wave to me as I walked by when she was playing cards on Monday evenings.I'll miss her wave. She was a super lady.. My thoughts and prayers are with you. You people were so good to Brian. Love to you all, Anne - Posted by: Anne Prior(Mykietowich) (friend) on: May 11, 2015
