  • Many fun and memorable times at the Pikl home. I was always welcomed and treated like a part of this family which was a huge privilege. (I always assumed it was because they just couldn't get rid of me.) Never a dull moment when Ed was around, always poking fun at Sam and I, keeping us on our toes. The sort of man you wanted to get to know because he was so likeable and welcoming. A man who was rich with friends but mostly family. Pikl family, thinking and praying for you. - Posted by: Hannah (Samantha's long time friend) on: May 19, 2015

  • I am so sad to hear of your dad's passing. I grew up with Shane and I could see how much he looked up to his dad. Sam and Matt too. Their dad was their real life hero. I always thought Mr. Pikl seemed like the best dad and you could just see the love the four of them had for each other. It was only them four together for a long time and I'm truly saddened for the pain you all feel. It's just not fair sometimes. Love Bren :( - Posted by: Brenna Bluethner (classmate of Shane's growing up) on: May 17, 2015

  • I am broken hearted for your loss..I will forever remember Eddie as a pal....for our younger years are unforgettable.. - Posted by: jacqueline leonard (old friend) on: May 17, 2015

  • I remember the first time I met him. Those who have seen him can understand how he can seem intimidating at first with his booming voice and his size. But once you know him, you just know that he truly is a friendly giant. Not just in stature but in heart as well. He was always quick to lend a hand. While we are all saddened by the physical loss, I believe we have gained a guardian angel. He will be forever with us and I'm sure he is watching over his loved ones every day. - Posted by: Tom Irvine (son in law ) on: May 17, 2015

  • I was shocked and sad to see that Ed had passed. I worked with Ed at Wpg transit in the early 80's and I would see him from time to time in St. Boniface. He was an absolute gentleman and will be missed. - Posted by: Dave Lysyk (Friend) on: May 17, 2015

  • The world is a sadder place with Ed's passing. Ed was one of those people who made work a fun place to go. He was a hard worker at Transit and outside work as well. We were in school together, RRCC and then both started work at Winnipeg Transit after RRCC. Friends and family will miss Ed who left them way too soon. - Posted by: Kevin Champagne (Friend) on: May 17, 2015

  • Sorry for your loss. Ed was always a great neighbour. From the moment they moved next door. When they had parties Ed always asked if they were too loud just yell at him. My response was always. "Ed, if it's too loud you're too old." We shared a few beers n talks. He always said hi asked how things were? Always ready to lend a hand. My prayers are with his family at this time. Taken far too soon, he will always have a place in your hearts. Ed was very proud of his family and you could just see the love he had for them on this Earth. I believe he still does. - Posted by: Gerry (Neighbour) on: May 16, 2015

  • The very first time I met Ed was at R.R.C.C. I was taking a Mechanics Trade Course. When my classmates and I saw this huge character I thought he was Andre the Giant. He looked just like him, the wrestler. The hair was exploded like he put his finger in the electrical outlet. That was the first time we met. The second time was when he came to work for WPG Transit. We all got to know this gentle giant working with him for many years. He was one of the hardest workers who led by example and was respected by all. The last time I saw Ed was when he came over to help me and my wife with some plumbing. We had fun doing it. We laughed from the time he came to the time we finished. This is the way he was, always helping anybody who needed it. My wife and I are very sorry for your loss and we are blessed and honored to have had him as our friend. God bless all your family. • Very sorry for your loss. Ed was my most trusted employee, and I considered him a true friend. Besides being a fantastic employee, he was truly a unique person, as it seemed everywhere he went, I received back glowing reports of how friendly he was,as well as that he was doing excellent work. I will miss our talks, and his great laugh and sense of humor. Ed told me many stories about how he just adored Ava, and was looking forward to the summer spending time with her, as well as the rest of his family. Rest in piece Ed, and know you touched many lives. I'm not sure if you knew how truly special you were. I know I will never forget you.
