Born: Nov 13, 1947
Date of Passing: May 04, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBOB (DAVID ROBERT) SULKERS November 13, 1947 - May 4, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Sulkers on Monday, May 4, 2015 at St. Boniface Hospital, after a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 30 years, Nancy, who provided unwavering support, care, and love throughout his illness. He will be sorely missed by his daughter Jen, and her children Ella, Penny, and Keith. The list of people who loved Bob is very long. His siblings Judy, Jan (Tom), Randy, Kim (Larry); siblings-in-law Gord (Susan), Joanne, Barb (Doug), Devon (Gaby), Ainslie (Brent), as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from across the country, who will all think of him with great love. Bob loved hockey, pool, a game of cards and golf. Many hours were spent on Winnipeg's marvellous patios enjoying the summer sun, red wine, and great food. Vacations in the sun were his favourite, he and Nancy basked in the sun from Florida to Palm Springs. Last but not least, he and Gabby (the cat he never wanted) enjoyed a special bond, "conversations" and cuddles. Bob had a unique ability to make those around him feel good about themselves. He loved to tell stories, hold court, and get a laugh; he brightened every room. With a gentle spirit and a happy heart, Bob was a gift to us all. Bob's family would like to express their thanks to the physicians and nurses at CancerCare MacCharles clinics and treatment rooms for their wonderful care, and to the nurses at St. Boniface Palliative Care for making his final hours serene and pain free. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive officiated by Rev. Doctor Sharon Wilson, with a small reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lavallee School Hockey Academy (cheque payable to Lavallee School or to the Louis Riel School Division Trust if a tax receipt is desired) or to Myeloma Canada in his name. My heartfelt condolences go out to the whole family. My Mom & Dad were friends with Auntie Mae & Uncle Al. I have many fond memories of spending numerous overnights at their place on Hodinott. I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time. - Posted by: Wendy Hamm (Friend of the family) on: Aug 13, 2023

Bob and I haven't really known each other as adults, although I was in love with him when we were growing up. He was always patient and generous with his adoring little cousin. I will miss him! Right now my thoughts are with Bob's family along with my hopes that they find peace with their great loss. - Posted by: April English (Cousin) on: May 25, 2015

I got to know Bob from the financial industry and more so through his participation in our Kidney Foundation Charity Poker League. He was a pleasure to be around and always brought a laugh to those who were seated at his table. He had a love for golf and we had many good conversations about the game. We certainly missed him over the past few years, and in the rare times he attended he lifted the room. My condolences to the Sulkers family, my thoughts are with you. He was a great man. - Posted by: Mark Braun (Friend) on: May 25, 2015

I'll walk beside you through the world today While dreams and songs and flowers bless your way I'll look into your eyes and hold your hand I'll walk beside you through the golden land I'll walk beside you through the world tonight Beneath the starry skies ablaze with light Within your soul love's tender words I'll hide I'll walk beside you through the eventide I'll walk beside you through the passing years Through days of cloud and sunshine, joys and tears And when the great call comes, the sunset gleams I'll walk beside you to the land of dreams - Posted by: Jim, Darcy , Connor (Neighbor) on: May 20, 2015

Having grown up watching the North Kildonan Juvenile Hockey Team play when I was younger I got to know Bob and can honestly say what a great guy he was who always had time for the younger kids. I always enjoyed bumping into him and catching up. What a gentleman he was. - Posted by: John Conrad (Friend) on: May 17, 2015

Bob and I pal'ed around during our early university and fraternity days. He was always a treat to be with, never without a smile and always made for good times. As life moved on we saw less of each other and I regret that. Bob was part of a blind date setting me up with a nursing student and resulting in my marriage to Terry MacLeod... Hard to believe 45 years have passed since then. Thank you Bob! Bob made me feel like a true friend and part of his family in those youthful days. I will always be grateful and honored to have been his friend. - Posted by: Ron Parkinson () on: May 16, 2015
