EDWARD HERBERT ARMOUR It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father Edward Herbert Armour at his residence, with his family by his side, on May 19, 2015 at the age of 81 years. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Marian, of 54 years in 2011, his parents, Albert and Helen, and his brother Bill. Dad is survived by his three children, Glen (Tracey), Nancy (Wes); his grandchildren, Craig, Kenny, Bryce, Kyle, Andrew, Donovan and Gary; as well as his grand-pups, Bobby-Whiskey and Finnegan, and close friends Ed and Kathleen. Dad was born on October 26, 1933 and grew up in the Weston area, attending Cecil Rhodes School and Tech Voc. Dad's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and his grandchildren. In particular, he took great pride in taking all his grandsons to Black Bear Golf Course for a very early morning tee off time. Dad often worked more than one job to make sure his family had everything they needed. Dad also taught all his children and grandchildren to be hard workers and taking time off school or work was not an option. As a family we were very competitive at playing cards and badminton tournaments and Dad always played to win. If you won it was because you deserved to. Dad was always willing to lend a helping hand and would never say no to his family. Dad enjoyed his family cottage on Lee River where he enjoyed snowmobiling, badminton, boating, feeding and watching the birds, and the countless summer projects that kept him busy. Dad was a kind and gentle soul whose humour was well known to all. Practical jokes and pranks came along with a smile and a good natured wink which was no more evident than when he was on the golf course. Not a day went by that you didn't see a smile on Dad's face. Dad also loved going to watch his grandsons play various sporting activities. Dad enjoyed peddling his bike and playing hearts where he was known as the "King of Hearts" with his daughter-in-law, Tracey, as his partner, who he called his "favouritest" and was more like a daughter than a daughter-in-law. Dad enjoyed his short stay of nine months living in East St. Paul with his son Glen and family, after his wife, Marian, passed away. While living in the country, he enjoyed feeding his two cats, Tiger and Bootsie. Dad worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a machinist before he got his dream job as a Firefighter with the City of Winnipeg Fire Department in 1957. He was promoted to Lieutenant on February 19, 1984 and then promoted to Captain on May 24, 1987. Dad retired after 34 years, nine months of service to the citizens of the City of Winnipeg, of which over 25 years were spent at #1 Fire Station at McDermot and Ellen Street. Special thanks to the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre who gave Dad caring and compassionate care during his residence there. As per Dad's wishes, cremation will take place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Firefighters Burn Fund or a charity of your choice. Dad you will forever be our King of Hearts. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 204-224-1525
