ROBERTA VALERIE MARY FITZGERALD (nee LOWRY) With heavy hearts we write of the sudden passing of our mother Roberta Valerie Mary Fitzgerald (nee Lowry) born November 20, 1943. Roberta had five children (Guy, Adele, Mark, Hope (Dean), and Ed), five grandchildren (Devon (Vanessa), Matheu, Joshua, David and Nevaeh), one great-grandchild (Benjamin), and one "Kissy Face." When her health and body hadn't failed her, she worked tirelessly from morning to night and was always there to do what was needed for family, friends or events, and in her later years, she donated to charity to help feed hungry children. Mom had an awesome talent and flare of turning meager items into treasures, shacks into beauty and comfort, and her surroundings into a home. No matter where she lived, we always felt we were home when we walked through her door. Her face would light up with joy and pride as we came in, looking us over and noticing anything new or different before we could take off our shoes and/or jackets to sit down. Besides being an awesome cook, Mom loved spending time reading, walking when able, writing in her journals, being with family, friends and the Lord. She also never met a jewelry aisle or Jeannie's cake that she didn't love! We thank her special friend and neighbor "Dodie" Sumner and the gallant efforts of the staff at Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare, Canadian Diabetes or the Winnipeg Humane Society. A Memorial Service, which will be officiated by Monsignor Stan Jaworski, will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Columbus Courts, 253 Edgeland Blvd., from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. We love you Mom, you will always be in our hearts and thoughts, and hope you are dipping your feet in the ocean. Talk to you tomorrow. Arrangements are by Ronald Moffit Memorial Services.
