Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIOLANDA MARIA CONCETTA (AUGELLONE) MACARIO Our mother has left us to join our father Serenino, in heaven, on May 25, 2015. Her soul left this earth surrounded by loved ones. She was born to Terenzia and Nazareno Augellone on November 29, 1922 in Scanno, L'Aquila, Italy. She is predeceased by husband Serenino, brothers Primo (Maria), Lucianno, sister Derna (Romolo), her brothers-in-law Guerrino (Dora), Orazio (Italia), Delio (Maria Orazia) and Mario. She is mourned by her daughter Luisa (Rossano) and son Frank (Marianne), and grandchildren Joanne (Glenn), Rossano (Jade Anne), Anne (Adam), and Brad (Taryn). She will be watching over her great-grandchildren from heaven; Sofia, Lucas, Logan and Ryan. Her sisters Angela, Mafalda (Teodoro) and sister-in-law Fernanda have survived her. She will be lovingly remembered by all of her nieces and nephews and their families including those in Italy, Boston and Canada for her homemade pizza, her kindness, her generous heart and laugh, and her unwavering devotion to Jesus and God. Mom and Dad were married in Italy on September 30, 1945. They immigrated to Canada with daughter Luisa on January 5, 1953. Frankie was born in Winnipeg where they raised their family among relatives and friends. Mom worked at Peerless Garments in the heyday of the Garment Industry in Winnipeg. She retired in 1987 after many years of working with friends who have remained in contact with her. She was one of the first woman's libbers of her generation. She was a fierce family matriarch as well as a being a loyal employee. She took great pleasure in both her family life and her work life. She had a very strong work ethic, which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She believed in the importance of education and supported her children and grandchildren in their careers. She loved to volunteer and never expected anything in return. After retiring, she dedicated herself to visiting sick people and taking care of others in need. She loved to communicate via the phone and one could always expect a call in time of need or just for a good chat. We will remember the long summer days with picnics complete with homemade pasta and pans of various Italian dishes, the wonderful garden filled with Italian beans, her love of walking and never being afraid of taking the bus. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, (510 River Avenue, officiant Father Sam Argenziano) with viewing at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, followed by interment at Waverley Memorial Gardens (1501 Waverley Street). The family would like to thank the staff at Calvary Place where her family and friends were welcomed when they came to visit. Mom and Nonna, we will keep your love and sweet voice in our hearts and never forget your laughter and smile. Love you forever, riposa in pace THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Please accept our condolences on the passing of your mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. We were very sad to see her obituary in the paper. She was our neighbour on Campbell for about 25 years. My mother and her were from very different backgrounds but they found a common thread as widows living alone beside each other and became good friends. I remember my mother speaking of Iolanda’s authentic Italian pizzas. They also both shared a love of gardening and being in their yards. Our children insisted on visiting Campbell St. on every Halloween after my mother passed away so they could meet up with Mrs. Macario who always treated them very specially. They still speak of her and remember her fondly. She was a very nice and caring person who had a very positive impact on my mother’s and our lives. We are thankful for that. The many memories I have of Zia Iolanda will always be part of the many memories I have growing up on Victor Street, the many church and social events and of course, the many times she opened up her home to host another gathering. I will never forget her laugh and I will never forget the one-to-one advice sessions she would bestow upon me. She was another one of the Aunties that helped raise me and for that, I will hold her memory in my heart. Riposa in pace Z'Iola...my prayer is that you have joined our family and friends who left before us and that you can laugh again with them...especially Zio Sereno. - Posted by: Lia Baksina (Friend of the Family) on: May 28, 2015
