DONALD KEITH With sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Don Keith at the age of 88 years on Sunday, May 24, 2015, as a result of a recent stroke. Don was predeceased by his wife Marg, and his grandson Greg Keith. Dad leaves behind a large close family; children Peggy (Dave), Terry, Dave (Jean), Rob (Karen), Jim (Liz), Gord (Kay) and nephew Wilf (Barb). Dad was Gampy to his grandchildren Kim, Dan, Brad, Cam (Megan), Duncan, Becky (Eric), Jenny (Jordan), Jordan (Kim), Kandice (Jason), Garett (Meghan), Kurt, Keven, Stuart, Andrew and great-grandchildren Gracey, Blaise, Parker, Everly, Colton, Marion, Alex, Maggie, and Daniel. Don enjoyed a long career at Manitoba Hydro, where he was Superintendent of the Selkirk Steam Plant and Director of Central Region in Winnipeg. As a young man, he spent time in the Canadian Navy. He was a strong business leader and was very committed to the community. He loved all his pets and served as the President of the Winnipeg Humane Society, volunteered on several boards, and was the President of the Winter Texans during his retirement. Don loved spending time at Lester Beach, where with Marg they built their first cabin on the lakefront in 1957, and went on to build their retirement home with a large swimming pool where all their grandchildren loved to spend their summer holidays. In retirement Don and Marg headed south to their winter homes first in Alabama and then in Brownsville, Texas, where they made many close friends, loved visitors and entertained as they did throughout their long happy marriage. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Don was a strong and intelligent man, with a most determined personality as befitting his upbringing and his Scottish heritage. Aunt Margaret was a warm and wonderful lady who made life whole for him and their children. They had other nephews too, including myself, and other nieces too. I well remember every meeting with Don ... because he asked me the same three questions every time... - Posted by: Murray Keith (Nephew) on: Jun 06, 2015
