Denis (a.k.a. Strawberry) was born on September 8, 1957 to Napoleon Seenie and Maryann Seenie, who will greet him in the spirit world. Denis was from Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation and a member of the Marten Clan, his spirit name was "Leader of Birds". Denis will be remembered for his friendly personality. He loved to laugh, and spent his free time riding his bike and visiting with his friends and family, of which he had in abundance. His laugh was contagious and his smile brought happiness and light to all who were blessed to have spent time with him. He enjoyed playing bingo with his children and keeping himself busy working in carpentry. Denis participated in the Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge Study Project and was excited to get started on making bike paths and trails for the community of Roseau and Rapids. Denis was predeceased by his parents and his siblings: Pauline, Harold, Joseph, Johnny, Oliver and Ernestine. He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Gloria, Emma, Helen, Anita and Ricky; as well as his children: John Fontaine, Lindsay (Samuel), Sherri, Dion, Heather (Kris), Vanessa (Brendan), Denise (Taylor); 30 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends, with special acknowledgment to his best friend Allan (the Boy) Laroque.
