Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE (EL) BORECKY (nee KOSTNA) Elsie Borecky, aka "El" (nee Kostna) died peacefully, at Saint Boniface Hospital, at the age of 88 years old. She was surrounded by people who loved her, she continued to make others smile and laugh, right to the end. El is survived by her four sons, Ronald (Elaine), Donald (Jan), Michael, and Bryan (Kerri); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Myron, her brother Wally, and her son Robert. El's memory also extends to the countless other loving individuals and numerous friends who were a part of her life. El was born on June 11, 1926 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After Myron's early passing, El continued to raise the boys, her grandchildren, and continued to find time to give back to her community. She is remembered as one of the most giving, kind, and patient women. El had numerous lifelong friends in Winnipeg and Montreal, whose friendship she cherished. She was an active and dedicated member of her church and an accomplished volunteer at Welcome Home. El was a Zumba aficionado, the best perogie maker, a well-known toy train player, a dedicated hockey fan, and she regularly danced like no one was watching. A special thanks goes out to all of the attendees and volunteers of Welcome Home, who made El feel proud to be a part of such a wonderful initiative. To the North Centennial Senior Children's program for countless hours of laughter with the kids in the pool. To Dr. Mehta and all of the nurses and staff at Saint Boniface Hospital that were so kind and caring during El's illness. To Father Bohdan Lukie CSsR for all of his wise words, guidance and continued support. To all of her close friends and family who brought her joy and laughter over her many years. A special mention to Caroline who was her personal counselor and loving friend who always stood by her side. A Divine Liturgy is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, with a luncheon to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate El's life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Outreach or Bishop Velychkovsky Martyr's Shrine at St. Joseph's Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2V 0M6.
