Anastasia Stepura was born the youngest of a family of five on April 11, 1926 in David Horodok, Ukraine. During the Second World War, she was taken to forced labour in Germany. Following the War, she met our father, Mykola and they were married in Dortmund, Germany on October 29, 1945 enjoying 58 years of marriage until his unexpected passing in 2004. They lived in Manchester, England before coming to Canada and settling in Winnipeg in 1952. Mama worked for several sewing companies working from home as a seamstress to raise her family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cross-stitching, cooking, gardening, and remained independent in her own house until her unexpected passing. In her younger years Mama enjoyed singing in Dumka Choir at the Ukrainian Canadian Institute Prosvita, and along with our father, were members of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Cathedral, Ukrainian Canadian Institute Prosvita and its Seniors Club. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Mykola in 2004 and all of her siblings. Left to mourn her passing are son Roman (Vera), and daughter Bohdanna Borys (Anton) and granddaughters, Cynthia Drebot (Aaron Smith), Angela Iacobciuc (John), grandson William (Vasyl) Borys and great-grandsons Brycen and Riley Iacobciuc. We will miss your loving care, concern, thoughtfulness, and dedication to all of us. Thank you for all your love and guidance throughout the years we were blessed to have you with us.
