I was only in grade 10 at Vincent Massey Collegiate where Miguel and I went. Miguel and I had a good amount of chemistry as friends. Miguel was loved by all of his friends and schoolmates, I loved him like an older brother. He felt like an older brother to not just me but all those peers he had to support him. Miguel had a great support network. Miguel had a smile that would light up a whole classroom and all the hallways back at Massey. It broke my heart and I was deeply affected by his passing, my friends and I we were in tears and when we held a little tribute at the front entrance of VMC. I stayed after everyone left just to honor his memory at the school. Still to this day I have memories of him back in high school, Miguel you're in a better place now and when it's time to go I'm gonna thank the Lord for a real good life and I hope you can save me a spot up there. Rest Easy brother, I love you 3000. :( - Posted by: AJ Bhuiyan (Friend) on: Aug 19, 2024

I was friends with Miguel growing up. The last time we spoke was a few months before his passing; we chatted joyfully about life and his aspirations. I was devastated hearing about this loss and will always remember him fondly. To this day, I still think of our memories and hope he is happy wherever that may be. - Posted by: Anonymous (Friend) on: Apr 05, 2023

Discovering that this was the Miguel I knew broke my heart. I am so sorry for your loss and I wish I was made aware of his passing. I met Miguel when he came to Ontario. I got to watch him grow and learn about himself. Miguel's memory came to me today while standing on a snow hill... I have a beautiful memory of him playing in the snow and "swan diving" into the powdery snow. His laugh was contagious and his big eyes will always stay with me. May his memory be kept close to your heart. Live free Miguel. - Posted by: Sarah Stackhouse (Support) on: Dec 29, 2019

Miguel was our neighbour. He and his brother were always out on the street playing, smiling and respectful to all that passed by, lovingly walking beside their sweet old white puppy, now gone. Regis, Wendy and Andre we are so heartbreakingly sorry for your unimaginable loss and wish you the strength to somehow heal. Madison, our daughter coached the boys at Pan Am and remembers Miguel fondly as well. We are all so very sorry for your family and this tragedy. Sincerely, Roz and Nick Rigas - Posted by: Nick and Roz Rigas (Old neighbours from 135 Southbend) on: Jun 24, 2015

I've known you since elementary school, I watched you grow up, and had connections with you in middle school. We used to trade gum for a Gatorade and talk quite often. High school you would always said "hi Courtney" in the hallways; always asked how I was doing too. You were a very sweet person and had a very caring soul. Rest in Peace Migs. It was a blessing to have known you. Sadly missed and forever remembered - Posted by: Courtney (Friend) on: Jun 23, 2015

Miguel was an amazing person, and deeply loved by so many in the Massey community. He was the philosopher and critical thinker in our class, and his engaging social commentary and politeness will be sadly missed. It was my absolute privilege to have taught Miguel. I am blessed to have known Miguel. I will miss his bright smile, contagious laugh and huge heart. Miguel was a very kind, polite and respectful young man with a wonderful sense of humour. I will miss our conversations and how you always teased me about being so short. Massey will not be the same, you touched so many hearts. Rest in peace Miguel and know you are missed by many. - Posted by: Bev (Educational Assistant) on: Jun 20, 2015
