LILLIAN POWER It is with great sadness that on Friday, June 26, 2015, at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, MB, we announce the peaceful passing of Lillian Anne Power (nee Moorhouse), 82. Born on May 11, 1933 in Ideal, MB, just outside of Oak Point, MB, she was the first child of late Anastasia, Annie or Anne' (nee Lebeda) and George Bernard, Barney' Moorhouse. She was also predeceased by her husband, Philip Power, originally of Pennant Station, SK, on August 10, 2004. Blessed with her memory are her daughter Tannis Power; grandson Keaton Power; brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Sally (nee Dunning) Moorhouse of Saskatoon, SK; brother Harry Moorhouse; sister-in-law Iris Moorhouse (nee Phillips and predeceased by her husband George Moorhouse); brother Ken and wife Jean (nee Scarlett) of Airdrie, AB; sister Wendy and husband Phil Brauen of Stonewall, MB; brother Lionel and wife Vivian (nee Bruce) and the many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Lillian was loved by everyone who met her. Lillian led a very full life. Growing up on the farm, she loved her horses. After the Second World War, Lillian, Lil' moved with her family from Oak Point, MB into the big city of Winnipeg, MB, where she met a new friend, Mary Streilein. The two were inseparable and got into their fair share of good' trouble. The two gals became maids of honour for each. In her younger years, and being the eldest, she helped her Mom Annie clean movie theatres in the evenings and raise the other six children. She worked as a negative stripper in the printing industry for Winnipeg Graphics, where she met many lifelong friends. She married Phillip James Power on May 15, 1954. She took a cashier's job at the neighbourhood Tom-Boy', which later became an Econ-mart' grocery store. She transferred to the Main Street location and worked for the UFCW union for 30 years. She loved travelling to visit friends and family; gambling, of any kind, whether it be penny or nickel games with family and friends, the local casino, or travelling to new cities and exploring new casinos. She was always up for a gathering of any kind. Her dry sense of humour and one liners will be missed. But it's her bright gorgeous smile and always a kind word from within her heart that will be missed the most. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home located at 1800 Day St. in Winnipeg, MB.
