Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRENE GUSTAVE GERVAIS November 17, 1941 - June 25, 2015 It is with great sadness that the family of Rene Gervais announce his sudden passing at his home in Elie, MB at the age of 73. Rene grew up in St. Eustache, seventh of 10 children of Edward and Simonne. In his early years, he helped on the family farm, then worked as a mechanic, before joining the Department of Highways in 1964, where he built many bridges across the province, retiring in 1999. Not one to sit idle for long, Rene resumed working at Toromont Ag Products, then D & D Sewer and Water, all the while helping out friends and family and maintaining a home and large yard, right up until the time of his death. In 1963, Rene married Pat Thompson and had two children. Together, they enjoyed 40 years of raising their family, gardening, bike riding, and card playing, camping, fishing, and travelling. He cared for her deeply and was heartbroken when she passed in 2003. Rene was saddened again in the spring of 2014, when his daughter Sandra passed away. Left to lovingly remember Rene, is his son Bob (Nancy) and grandchildren, Tiffany, Jennie, Marc; and great-grandchildren, Alora and Cora; brothers, Ernest (Mariette), Gilbert (Pauline); and sisters, Yvette (Laurent) Houde, Simone (Ray) Lambert, Claudette (Phillip) Lheureux and Doris (Ted) Thorimbert; brother-in-law, Ken England (Geri); and sisters-in-law, Jacquie Thompson, Kathy Thompson (Derek) and Cindy Ediger (Alan) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and family friend, Lynn. My condolences to the family and friends on Rene's passing. I had the pleasure of working on many projects with him from 1988 until his retirement from the Department of Highways. He was missed by me when he left the department and will be missed once more as I will no longer be able to pop in for a quick visit when I was able to catch him at home. Farewell old friend. - Posted by: Peter Tomko (Co-worker Prov. of MB.) on: Jul 08, 2015

My Grandfather was a great man. Though he may have been a man of few words, when he had something to say it would have been wise of you to listen because he had always spoke with words of wisdom and it always came straight from the heart. The sudden passing of my beloved grandfather may bring great sadness to my heart but it also brings me great joy knowing that he has been reunited with my grandmother. While I was growing up, they had shown me such a love between two people that there are no words to describe it for they are yet to be written, and for that I know in my heart that true love is possible. I will always remember the camping trips we had every year. Watching my brother Marc learn to ride his bike in their garage. Or the endless amounts of times grandpa went out in winter clearing the river of snow so we could skate around even if it was just for 15 minutes, then we would run inside and grandma would have hot chocolate ready and waiting to warm us up. With marshmallows of course. These are a few of my many favorite memories of him that I will always take with me and hold so precious to my heart. Rene Gervais will be greatly missed but never forgotten. He shall live on through all of our memories and continue to bring us great wisdom. This is my prayer to you: Grandpa I love you so much and will think of you always. Not going to lie I truly wish there was more time, because I have so much more I want to say to you. All I ask is if you could please watch over me and my family and guide us towards the right path in life. Please find peace, say hi to Auntie and Grandma for me n' I'll see you all on the flip side. <3 - Posted by: Jennifer Gervais (Granddaughter) on: Jul 02, 2015

Our most sincere condolences at the sudden loss of your Father/Father-In-Law/ Grandfather. The few times I did get to meet Mr. Gervais, he always had a smile on his face and that is how I will remember him, happy. May the love of family and friends ease your struggles during this difficult time. Much love, - Posted by: Gerald & Sheila (friend of Bob & Nancy) on: Jul 02, 2015
