Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I worked with Gail at City Hydro in the 50's. We lost touch when I retired to raise my family. My parents bought a cottage at Falcon Lake in the 70's next door to Norm's parents and I would occassionally see Gail at the cottage. While we were not close, when I did see her we talked about all the people we worked with and our daily lunch time playing Canasta. The last time I saw here was at the the cottage in 2014 and we reminsced about our time together at the Hydro. I liked and respected her - she was a fun co-worker. I was out of the country when she died and was not able to attend the Memorial Service. My prayers and thoughts to out to Norm and the family at this very difficult time. • Our family has great Falcon Lake memories of the Stapon Family. My mom would spend summers at the lake with us kids and we would spend a lot of time at the Stapon's cabin. We would all be gathered around the kitchen table, loaves of bread, sandwich meats, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and all the fixings. The moms would spend hours talking and us kids would be at the beach. There was never a dull moment when we were there, always welcomed by Gail and Norm. My ties to Falcon Lake are largely because of my great experiences and lots of fun with the Stapon's. Growing up on Consol Avenue my mom and dad and Norm and Gail, best friends for many years gave us kids safe havens at each other's homes. So many memories and happy times growing up there. Rest in peace Gail. Our hearts are with you Norm, Grant, Craig, April, Mona, Garth, spouses and families. - Posted by: Debbie Fetterly (Nicol) (Family friend) on: Jul 10, 2015

  • Norm, so sorry to hear of Gail's passing. She was a wonderful lady and treated everyone with respect, showed a genuine interest in what was said and done. I truly felt like Gail's younger sister when I was growing up and spent wonderful days with your family. My prayers are with you and the family. - Posted by: Lorraine LeFlour (friend (babysitter)) on: Jul 08, 2015

  • We will never forget Gail's beautiful and genuine smile. She gave the best hugs and always had time to ask us how we were and how are family was. Gail listened with care and never judged. Her conversations meant something. We have known the Stapon family for 41 years and Gail was a loving leader of her family. She made the best cheesecake and X-mas wife saver, and she could play a mean game of cards. Rest in peace Gail. We will miss her dearly. And to the Stapon family, please know we care and share your grief. Lori and Wayne Miller - Posted by: Lori and Wayne Miller (Friend) on: Jul 04, 2015
