GORDON RUCHKALL March 11, 1936 - July 10, 2015 It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Dad will be sadly missed by his wife Eileen of 56 years, and his three sons, as he fondly referred to them, Greg (Nicole), Grant, Mark (Beverly); and his daughter Leanne (Kevin). Gordon is survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of which brought much joy and happiness to his life. Gordon is also survived by his sister Myrtle (Walter) and his brother Russell (Elaine), and many nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Nellie; in-laws, Mike and Nettie Kaban; and also sister-in-law Helen Rosskoph. Gordon was born in Hazelridge, MB, where he helped out on the family farm before going to work at Canada Packers. After a 10 year stint, he decided the hotel business was his vocation. In 1972, he purchased and ran the Riverton Hotel until 1976 when he purchased the Princess Hotel until 1991. In 1993, he bought the Rennie Hotel and was back in his beloved Whiteshell, where he remained until retirement. Gordon loved the lake, hunting, fishing, friends, and being surrounded by the beauty of nature. His greatest joy was watching the grandchildren enjoy the lake as he did, tubing, pedal boating and just having fun in the water. Our family would like to thank Arnie Bulloch for friendship, care and compassion shown to Gord over the last five years, making it possible for him to spend his summers in a place he loved. As per Gord's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2015 with Pastor Derek de Vries officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba. My life on earth is truly past I've loved you all to the very last Weep not for me, but courage take And love one another for my sake Love Dad Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 204-224-1525 You may sign the Book of Memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com

Our deepest condolences to Eileen and family. My Mom, Evelyn Ross worked for Gordie and Eileen way back in the 70's in Riverton. Such nice people that were generous and welcoming. I met Gordie again years later when I worked out in Rennie and he recognized me in his restaurant. Rest in peace dear friend. - Posted by: Tammy Ross (Friends) on: Aug 06, 2015

We remember the people that we worked with, great memories, even babysitting the two boys when Eileen and Gordon went to a wedding (I think)! That was years ago. Sharing your sorrow at this time. - Posted by: Elsie LeBlanc (friend and worked at Canada Packers) on: Jul 19, 2015
