Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY WILLETTA (VAL) PETTERSON (nee QUALLY) On February 14, 2015, Val passed away peacefully, surrounded by love. She will be missed by husband, George; daughters Susan and Cheryl (Norm); granddaughters Allison (Peter) and Jennifer (John); great grandsons Larry and Owen, sisters-in-law Marie, Dorothy (Ray), and Jean. She is joining in heaven with her parents Billiam and Martha, stepmother Tillie, sisters Marion (Vivan), Eunice (Gordon), Mabel (Arnold), brothers Edwin, Stan (Norma), Douglas, son-in-law Larry, and great grandson Michael. Val was born in Winnipeg on January 6, 1923 and grew up in Dacotah, later moving to Winnipeg. Val taught her daughters what she thought was important in lifeput the tea kettle on when people walk in to visit, education is what gets you the job you want, never use a dishcloth to houseclean, "relax for heaven's sakes", the value of a good book, and homemade is always better than store bought. Over the years Val enjoyed horseback riding, curling, bowling, swimming, riding a bike, taking piano lessons, baking cookies at Christmas, and listening to Lawrence Welk. She loved her granddaughters and was so impressed with their many achievements. When her great- grandsons were born she knew they would be well looked after. A celebration of Val's life will be held on August 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Memorial Gardens in Dacotah. Lunch and shared memories will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck.
